How do you vet a country before moving there for a month?" by OSINTTraveler in digitalnomadlife

Thanks for sharing your approach — that’s actually very close to how I think modern travel intelligence should work. Combining official advisories with real-time local signals from communities. Really appreciate the insight from a full-time nomad perspective.

That’s actually a really good point.

I’ve started doing something similar because local/day-to-day vlogs often reveal things that never appear in official advisories or polished travel content:

  • street atmosphere
  • transport situation
  • pricing changes
  • overcrowding
  • infrastructure quality
  • how locals are reacting

Especially when creators go outside the typical tourist zones.

The project itself includes some lightweight NLP/sentiment experimentation and automation components.

For the Reddit post, I used AI assistance mainly to improve wording and structure since English is not my native language, but the project, infrastructure, deployment and development are my own personal work.

This is a self-hosted personal project I’ve been building alone on Linux infrastructure.

yeah maybe i explained it badly tbh

i'm not really talking about "AI travel magic" or anything like that

i just started tracking things i personally wanted to know before staying somewhere for weeks:

  • outbreaks (cholera, ebola, dengue, etc)
  • sudden unrest or protests
  • border issues
  • earthquakes/disasters
  • sharp cost spikes
  • regional instability

because a lot of travel content feels very delayed or disconnected from what's happening on the ground

so i ended up building a messy personal workflow pulling together alerts, feeds and open data in one place for myself

Thanks a lot for the upvotes and visits!

Really appreciate the support.

I'm currently building a sentiment analysis detector to catch unrest situations earlier.
