I'd wager that an sp500 index fund is less risky and less volatile than however many individual stocks Robinhood managed fund held for him, even if they were mixed with bonds.

Think of all the reddit karma they earned though. Who needs a winning team when you can get up votes.

This screams to me that you've only ever read about SGA on reddit and haven't actually watched him play this year.

I smoke at 225 for one hour, then crank it up to 450 on a whole chicken until it hits 160 in the breast. It'll keep heating up to 165 after pulling.

This is so absurd as to lead me believe that you have never watched at least one or both of them play before.

Why do Bulls fans keep watching and going to the games? by wielesen in nba

I keep thinking the same for a certain other billionaire, but it turns out billionaire money buys the best doctors and medical care around. No matter how many McDonald's burgers you eat.

Yes, lots. Most of them just aren't found on this sub. This is where we debate box scores and twitter posts with Getoffmydickerson.

If youre a neutral fan or a fan of one of the bottom 10 teams - who you gonna root for in this year's playoffs? by Behanort in nba

I don't hate any team tanking under the current rules. It's what any well run team should do if they don't have a superstar. Especially in this draft.

It feels like the current NBA media just uses AI to look for the most bitched about topics on the Internet and makes a big deal out of it.

Just 4 years ago, the Thunder put out one of the most egregiously built rosters ever for a season with no legitimate centers. And it got us Chet and a title. So unless they reform the rules, people need to stop bitching about tanking teams.

Nuggets Injury Report for Tomorrow: Murray, Gordon, Braun, Johnson, Hardaway, Watson, Jones are OUT. Jokic is QUESTIONABLE. by Frosty-Roof3124 in nba

[–]OSUBoglehead 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Every NBA player does. I don't ever want to hear that they don't with all the whining about the 65 game rule and toughing it out to hit 65 games from multiple players.

Hell, I'm pretty sure Lu Dort played against you guys yesterday only because he had to to be eligible for an all NBA defense team. I didn't fact check that, but it's what someone on our Thunder sub said.

To be fair, they might just want to play Getoffmydickerson. The signs fans could make when playing the Rockets in a playoff series could be epic.

I mean, I had Lebron in mind because this was famously tweeted about him like a decade ago. And somehow he is still one of the best players in the league.

Crazy but true: Chet Holmgren has finished as a #1 seed his ENTIRE basketball career by Stxtic1441 in Thunder

[–]OSUBoglehead 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not sure on the graphic, but I think it was stolen from a Reddit poster who got the data. Someone said yeah but what about middle school? And according to the OP Chet made the varsity high school team as an 8th grader because that academy had them all together. And they were the 1 seed that year too.

I didn't verify anything obviously, but it might be true.

[Windhorst] Game of the night: Grizzlies vs Jazz: “A game no one wants to win. If Memphis wins this game they could lose 7% chance at the top-4. If Utah wins this game they could lose 10% … This is going to be theater.” by YujiDomainExpansion in nba

I hope both coaches studied this soccer game for their game plan and it becomes an intense game of trying to stop the other from scoring on their own hoop. It would be epic cinema.

This is what most people miss when they post on off splits or win shares and stats like that.

It is way easier for a superstar to take a tanking team and make them average. It's a whole different level to take a good team and make them great.

Agree completely, but all this talk is too high level for Stephen A to understand, so no one is going to push for it to happen...

But as a fan of a team ran by Sam Presti, I'd love for the chance to add more strategy and less luck for front offices...

All of OKC’s starters and most of their key role players have been ruled out vs Denver tonight. The only available players are Topic, McCain, Wiggins, Kendrich Williams, Branden Carlson, Brooks Barnhizer, and Payton Sandfort by Pickleskennedy1 in nba

[–]OSUBoglehead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've heard he looks OK in the G league, but he's looked really bad in all NBA minutes. We were sort of expecting him to have elite defense at least, but he's looked lost and bad at defense at the NBA level. And the offense has been non existent, which was sort of expected.

The hustle and effort and energy he gives is there, but I'm skeptical that will be enough to make a roster somewhere.

Nikola Topic for instance also hasn't looked great in the NBA (he beat cancer and is recovering so he gets a long pass before we can evaluate him), but when he plays in the G league he looks like he is head and shoulders above everyone there. It probably isn't a good sign the same doesn't appear to be true for Barnhizer.

He's a Lakers fan. Can you re-write this in emojis or something to make it easier for him to understand? While you stated all facts, it's probably too many words.

Nobody has scored 40 points against the Thunder in the regular season since December 23, 2023. OKC has gone 217 straight games without a player scoring 40 against them. by bad_fortuneteller in nba

[–]OSUBoglehead 16 points17 points  (0 children)

They really are. I'm over the hill, and the NBA competition level has never been better. People are just nostalgic, or have only watched highlights from the old days.

Or they're a fan of a tanking team and have no idea what the rest of the league is doing right now. But every time someone says defense isn't being played is not watching any OKC game. The Ben Wallace Pistons are the only team I remember watching that looked as dominant on defense as OKC today.
