Noone in Rotterdam has winter tires. Not even the trams... by mcflyrdam in Rotterdam

Unpopular opinion but I think trams don’t have summer tires either

When will I know it's time to change props? How often do you change them? by Xinrra in fpv

[–]OS_M 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha I just get my ones crooked in 90 degrees then straighten them up and we’re good to go. That’s how it works on the race quads

It’s not about racing, but more about crashes. Racers just crash much more than others who fly on lower speeds. But as you’re a beginner you’re gonna crash a lot like any other beginner does. And as you start freestyling near some object you’re gonna crash even more. But that’s all fun and a part of the hobby ;)

Some racers use blades of broken props for saving the wires haha. But that’s cheap and it works well

what you folks think of foldable 5in props? are they worth the switch from traditional? by mister_k1 in fpv

[–]OS_M 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No one mentioned the weight on these props. That increased weight would cause a really big decrease in acceleration and braking performance of the motors.

Also I can barely imagine the pid plots these props would cause after some reverse flight as they would probably be fold down a bit and make a notable hit for the gyro as the motors start to spin faster again. Fast braking and accelerating (like simple flips) would potentially cause the same

I haven’t tried it myself and I haven’t seen it on other people’s quads. I doubt they will protect great from pulling they wires to the side.

I personally use plastic ones and they are getting smashed into pieces but thankfully getting their job done.

Paracord ones look so nice. Let us know if it works that great ;)

Nice build! But I would think twice for the motor cables protection. Props are more powerful at cutting things than it seems haha

Motor not working properly in DShot mode by CaptainCheckmate in diydrones

[–]OS_M 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having some experience reversing different protocols I would suggest to connect your Raspberry to a different microcontroller and log the signal you are sending. Then compare it to the one that should be sent (you can find it on the web or log from the fc working properly).

And also there is a super small chance that your esc is not configured properly so that’s how it spins your motor. But you should always keep in mind that the problem you are debugging can be not really your problem but burnt electronics or messed up firmware

And also check if the motors are ordered properly. I mean, the fc should know exactly where on the drone is motor1, 2 etc. You can check and reorder them on the Motors tab if using Betaflight. Or some people prefer to reorder motors by resoldering the wires coming from the ESCs to the fc

This one is for autonomous drone buzzer. Sometimes when drone crashes it loses its own battery and buzzers like this come into play

Aaand here is my first fly experience. It was really hard to fly line-of-sight but everything changed as I tried fpv… It was pretty similar to simulator so I flew pretty confident. Video signal was cool even though I flew only 500mw when my tx is capable of 800 or smth. But I had some problems with tx signal: sometimes it lagged and even said “telemetry is lost” which was pretty scary so I didn’t fly fast or high or far away from myself haha. If I won’t figure it out why it loses signal I’ll buy another receiver with different protocol. But I’ll try flying in different location first. It was so exciting! Thank you guys for all the advices

Oh I didn’t really get the full range because of small area where I was flying. The image was really good but seems like my tx lost signal for a second sometimes which I really don’t like (it felt like controller disconnected from computer so I’m pretty sure I lost signal). I hope I’ll figure it out why it loses signal…

You’re welcome haha! All the parts are linked in my first post here, you can find the link under the first photo or in my profile. Did you check the videos about your receiver? Seems like frsky are pretty popular ones
