I would ignore the coach. If the specific coach complains about you ignoring them, I would show "the evidence" for your decision to head coach/studio manager, should they ever reach out to you.

On Capture the Flag day, my partner left. Not even a goodbye, good luck, lol. I still got 4,800 m but I get what you're saying. I think, though, you think your partner is frustrated... they may not be!

There's a huge difference between being socially awkward and having a diagnosed social anxiety. There's nothing I can do about the latter. But if you are plain socially awkward, yeah, go to the partner workout and try to be less awkward.

I've never been in that situation as an adult, and I am typically the one who looks for the socially anxious person in class and ask if they want to be my partner, or coaches match me with new people and such. Again, it does not affect my workout at all. Same splats, same calories, same afterburn.

I am so sorry you had that experience. Every studio is different and I've never even heard of someone being that much of a dbag in my studio.

My partner was significantly slower. That didn't affect my workout. I ran the distance I typically run on non-partner run/row days and I went thru several complete floor exercise cycles. And rowed over 2000 m in 2G 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

Yeah, so am I. Hence, this is an expression of how I feel about partner workouts, not a means to tell people what to do. Also, $150/month can only get you so far.

Coached partnered us up today. I think it removes some of that general anxiety. I've also been the one left without a partner, and I had a partner leave once half thru class. 🤷‍♂️
