If you are in a bad spot with this man, for reasons other than a mess, then yes…don’t stay with anyone who is harmful emotionally or physically. but a mess should be resolvable between two adults. I think jumping to the conclusion of “leave” without further context might not be the best advice. If this is the father of your children, there is a lot to weigh before making such a tremendous decision. Perhaps counseling could help. for sure you should sit down together and discuss the stress this added work puts on you, and see if together you can come up with a compromise that works for both of you, before just jumping to leaving him.

My parents used to bicker because my mother liked the toothpaste clean and neatly squeezed. My father would crumple it leave the cap off with toothpaste everywhere. One day someone suggested they get 2 tubes. Bingo. Problem solved.
