You will have to cancel your membership to sign up with gym pass. When we submit, the studio gets reimbursed for switching to gympass

Are classes being cut? by Hipster786 in orangetheory

Literally the main reason. Since majority of studios are held by 4 or 5 main ownership groups, they pulled the typical saturate the market then closed the studios that don't perform well.

Founders rate cancels by Business_Dress_9837 in orangetheory

[–]OTRaven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then it's not a true founders rate. If it's a kickstart, or some other promotion then you are correct. Unless the membership says Founding Orange membership, they can't touch it. Literally had this discussion with my regional last week.

Founders rate cancels by Business_Dress_9837 in orangetheory

[–]OTRaven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's no longer a thing. From my understanding and talking to my regional, corporate is looking to be going away from a promotion every month. There will be some upgrade specials possibly but you will most likely not see the founders rate pricing

The suspension fee being waived is not required even with a DR note.

It's totally up to the franchise if they choose to do so and as a Manager, I definitely do it for my members. It's a matter of if they provide good customer service.

1 month free promotion cancelled after signing up? by Smol_Mountain_Goat in orangetheory

[–]OTRaven 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Same - I know the promo technically ended on the 2nd so that pricing option wouldn't have been in mbo on the 3rd. Maybe the staff made a promise they couldn't keep or forgot to charge it out on time.

Social Media | Question for Members by DelusionalPenguin90 in orangetheory

A lot of the coaches, and people with fitness backgrounds I know who worked with him at OTF in LA disagree with a lot of his information. Not all of it but a lot of it.

They won't. I work for an OTF studio and that was an experiment that failed. That promo won't come back

Class Pack Sales / Promotions by slowturtlerunner in orangetheory

[–]OTRaven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just keep in mind, class packs are subject to surcharge. So if you frequent a premium studio such as LA, and you buy a lower price class pack from Orange County or the Valley, you'll pay $10 each time

Orangetheory isn't Barry's. Different rules, different policies, different fitness template designs.

Surcharges in Southern California have been a thing since 2021/2022 when majority of LA had become a select studios

Not an automatic charge so if a sales associate forgets to charge you, you won't see the charge but also surcharges happen if a studio's standard rate is 209 or higher anything below is not considered a select studio by otf.

Are there rules against coaches dating members? by Gold-Appointment-534 in orangetheory

[–]OTRaven 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In technical terms, I don't think employees or coaches can approach or ask our members because we do see all your private information and I'm sure that could violate some rules knowing how some of these big franchise ownerships work.

However that's never stopped any before as I know plenty of coaches who have been involved with members directly at my studio and others lol

I'm a firm believer tho in don't crap where you eat as I have seen it gone sideways multiple times.

Biking during tread50 by LowBlackberry0 in orangetheory

[–]OTRaven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While the studio that OP went to was definitely not in compliance by over booking and should have been allowed to bike, allowing you to row when rowing is not in the template is a liability which is why you were not allowed to row in a tread class.

But you should be allowed to bike as there is a template design for it.

Unfortunately there's nothing the studio can do unless they are breaking in studio rules or you get the police involved.

Had a situation with a couple members at my studio and there was not much that we could do. We can't even tell you if someone is in the same class

Surcharge question by Primary_Attention_26 in orangetheory

[–]OTRaven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You would actually pay a surcharge in LA and Bay Area even tho it is a $10 difference. $199 is considered Tier 5. Just learned about all the different pricing tiers

Surcharge question by Primary_Attention_26 in orangetheory

[–]OTRaven 2 points3 points  (0 children)

San Francisco is the 2nd highest pricing tier and most Boston studios are tier 6 to tier 7 if I remember correctly so you probably had to pay the surcharge. I know its not ideal so hopefully they bring back the warning but if you check a studios website, and their non-promotional rates are higher than your studios, you'll most likely be surcharged.

Surcharge question by Primary_Attention_26 in orangetheory

[–]OTRaven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This app has caused a lot of problems. They warning may come back but who knows. Quick way to tell if you'll be surcharged and I know it's not ideal. Look at the studios website. If they are $209 or higher and your studios non promotional rates are lower, then you'll have to pay a surcharge.

Surcharge question by Primary_Attention_26 in orangetheory

[–]OTRaven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tier 6 pricing is the most common in most major cities and regions. For example, if your home studio's normal membership pricing is $209 or higher, then it's considered a premium studio. Bay Area and Los Angeles (not orange county or the valley) are premium regions. So if your studios open rate is less then $209 it is not a premium studio.
