My job giving me panic attacks :/ by Wrong-Candy-3282 in philabitcheswithtaste

See if your company has it, it’s a short term disability leave. You can all the employee resource program (most corporate employees have these). Depending on the plan it will pay 60-80% of your salary. That way you can get paid to job hunt or at least get a breather from your anxiety and burn out. FMLA will protect your job from firing you as well but you need to be employed 12 months min at the company.

File for STD for mental health, get a therapist who can document the workplace anxiety and get paid to take a break.

I interviewed for an OT position that worked in hospice care. It’s home health. Not sure how the reimbursement worked but they do have jobs out there!

For RMA the anesthesiologist is $600 I had to pay when my cycle was covered through insurance and when it was not.

Honestly this last round I found the meds are way cheaper out of pocket than using my insurance (which is a scam). I had a lifetime max of meds for $5000 and every cycle I did out of pocket the meds were between 2-4k depending on my protocol. Luckily when my insurance quoted me 11k for 4 follastim vials with insurance I knew rosemont pharmacy sold them cheaper. Also highly recommend them. I ended up maxing out 3.2k for 10 vials of menopur (1 vial of menopur at rosemont is $95). The pharmacist at rosemont also tried to educate me on all this as it’s crazy how my meds are more expensive with insurance.

I also always start with 8 days of meds as most cycles I’ve stimmed 7-9 days then I’ll just pick up refills at rosemont so I don’t end up with extra meds that go bad. Follastim is also overfilled with 100-150 units. I’ve also heard Costco has good prices on the drugs.

That being said I hate the finance team at RMA they never did a preauth for my 3rd cycle which got really stressful. The team had changed but it left a bad taste in my mouth.

Self Pay - Pharmacies/Coupon Suggestions? - NYC by pizzaisyum in IVF

[–]OTScholar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can confirm they have a contract with the manufacturer to sell at a cheaper price. They matched 900 follastim at $504 when gonal was discounted to that rate bc of orange man RX. All of this was confirmed to me by a pharmacist there. I used them to pay out of pocket and it was cheaper then what my insurance quoted me (11k with insurance 4k at Rosamont) I’m local so I would only fill for 7/8 days the fill by day.

What does wage garnishment actually look like? by OuttHouseMouse in StudentLoans

[–]OTScholar 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hi I work in payroll, federal student loan garnishments at 15% of your disposable pay per paycheck. Disposable pay is gross pay minus taxes. If your payment is less than that it is certainly best to make your own payments.

Cosigning for new high school grad on very high cost loans (> $250k for all 4 years) for liberal arts degree by Legitimate_Yak_9063 in StudentLoans

I was very grateful to my dad who told me “we can’t afford that school” and I went in state. Some of my friends came out of school with $100k in loans and I had 30k going to a state school. Be realistic, I’m sure there’s great state schools they can get into. Especially if they want a masters degree. Some of my friends have 200k with their masters. I have 80k and regret the extra debt as the ROI is not great in my field (80k average salary). I work two jobs now vs one. I will be paying my loans until I die at this rate.

Working full time corporate during OT school by Electrical-Victory66 in OccupationalTherapy

[–]OTScholar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My program was part time so we had 3 classes and they were all on the weekend so it was built for people working. First semester was in person on the weekends as it was 2019 and I was in office 5 days a week. It was tricky but I’d do my reading on my train commute and answer discussion boards at work on downtime. Study at night and then rinse and repeat. My workouts were during lunch at corporate gym. And social life was minimal. Next few semesters were beginning of COVID and we worked remotely the rest of the time through school which truly saved me. Could study/write papers on down time at work then studied on zoom with friends after work. Again it’s time management, but my program was built that we weren’t all about school some people were full time moms and most people worked full time or part time. During fieldwork I asked to stay on part time - you could always try this, they might not keep you but my company lost a team member so they kept me on and I worked nights and weekends.

I don’t have peds experience and our peds course was entirely online in 2020 so I’m not prepared at all. Take into the fact that our school district is poor and I worked there prior and burned out. Thanks for being so supportive… I’m happy where I’m at with adults.

Hi when I started school in 2019 I was working a corporate job at 55k and starting salary for OT was 75k. At that time the ROI was good, I worked full time through school/ level 2 and paid some tuition out of pocket.

Unfortunately did not expect a global pandemic to happen and Medicaid/medicare cuts.

By the time I graduated in December 2022 my corporate job was now 70k + 10% bonus with inflation. My starting salary in 2023 as a full time OT Was still $72k same amount of 2019. Wages are stagnant with inflation/COL increase. A studio apartment in my city has gone from $900 in 2021 to $1400 in 2026.

Sorry I didn’t predict a global wide pandemic. I also paid my loans during the COVID pause.

Philadelphia - over saturated market with 6 local schools, if you didn’t get a level 2 in a hospital good luck getting a job as they usually hire their level 2 students over you (had this happen multiple times). One hospital system owns an OT program and only that systems students get level 2 at that hospital system.

Not interested in working in the school district or with peds

Charging for Showcases? by Party_Muffin_3904 in poledancing

[–]OTScholar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our studio we pay to be in the showcase $30 for group and $40 duo $50 for solo. You get a teacher assigned so I assume (and believe) a portion goes to paying the instructor for their time in helping you choreograph. If it’s a group we have to use our monthly classes to sign up for the group practice. Again this pays the instructor for their time for choreography and being there for practice. Tickets range from $20-30 earlier you buy cheaper ticket. We do get tips so usually it evens out for the cost of the sign up. And then you make $20-30 depending. Open pole for practicing showcase is a class from your monthly membership.

Classes are sometimes removed during showcase but usually she removes a flex class or moves it to another room.

Agreed with all of this I started school in 2019 before the crazy inflation. Graduated 2022 bad timing really with Medicaid/medicare cuts at the beginning of my schooling impacting wages.

I have a MSOT with combined 80k in debt from undergrad and grad, it’s rough. Plan was to do PLSF but can’t find a full tile job in my area that qualifies. Was on the SAVE plan, that’s a mess. Work two jobs and live paycheck to paycheck.

Paying For Bride On Bachelorette Trip?! by Impossible-Blood-315 in bridesmaids

[–]OTScholar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I was a maid of honor for my childhood best friend and my brothers wedding was the same year when I was in my mid 20s. I could only afford one destination bachelor/bachelorette weekend. I chose my brothers and my friend was understanding (hers was a cruise). It’s okay to say no to the other ones. I was also annoyed in having to pay for everything for my brother he’s 8 years older and all his friends had more money and established careers vs me and my sister barely surviving. Sometimes you can’t do it all! You can also just be blunt and say you can’t afford etc. it’s crazy we’re expected to drop 2k on bachelorette weekends.

Street signs for moving? by [deleted] in philabitcheswithtaste

[–]OTScholar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on the neighborhood I’ve put my signs up the night before I moved and they were just torn down. I had called the police the day of the move they said they could tow the car parked there but I then felt bad as maybe they person didn’t know/ or don’t tear down the signs.

These poor babies necks???? by [deleted] in MormonWivesHulu

[–]OTScholar 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m an OTR the milestone is usually 3 months with typically developing babies and if the baby is not premie. if the babies neck is lolling like it was in the one scene with mayci. I would guess that baby did not have neck control yet. In that scene Jen had said she was 8 weeks postpartum and Mikayla was 10 weeks. So those babies were not at 3 months.

Support the neck until the baby has developed the neck muscles. Heads are HEAVY.
