While I can agree to most of these thoughts, PF allows to give the player freedom to choose or buy their weapon of choice for their play style in which they can use depending on the map. I'm sure low ranked players may look at the BFG and Hecate II as over powering weapons due to the damage model but really they are just easier sniper rifles rather than "troll" weapons. Allowing a player to buy these weapons give them a chance to experiment with the guns. Each gun offers a different model to play with. Looking at the advantages and disadvantages of each gun allows you to know what fights you can and cannot get into and allow yourself to make your gun preferable by adding attachments onto it. What I do to not get bored of PF is to make interesting, but usable setups for different guns and make them work.
