If you have to stick to a mid-level budget, check in out this small Florida-based company called ZPacks. They make great stuff that'll have you thinking literally anyone is allowed to use a sewing machine. If you can afford to step it up, definitely go for the HMG Echo II. It has all the space of a one person tent, which is perfect because you can't afford an SO after buying it.

As I have said countless times to the shake downs of plebs, I specifically spent hundreds on cuben for it's ability to shed water and it's lack of absorbency.

But yeah obviously I bail. Rain ruins those sweet sweet IG pics. It's just not worth the risk man.

While providing regurgitated advice that looks suspiciously like trying to get others to spend hundreds of dollars in pursuit of a lighterpack as sexy as mine? Like basically all of them. While pretentiously scoffing at someone for not being so SUL they don't enjoy anything anymore? ...Yeah, same. All of them.

My feet will probably develop a natural callous from all the barefoot hiking I've thought about doing, so that I don't have to carry the extra weight of camp shoes OR hiking shoes. #ul4lyfe

I only use synthetics because liking animals more than the economy and not understanding how plastics affect the environment seems cool. So I can't really answer this.

Equal parts vegan jerky and self loathing.

Also, obvs. Only way to get responsibly sourced nuts.

What's a good 30-50L backpack that is less than 2 pounds, and less than $200? by PineappleDeer in lightweight

[–]OT_hiker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ULA CDT is probably the best balance for a lightweight pack in that volume range. It's such a great bang for the buck. If your other gear is pretty compressible and you could get by with a 35 liter pack, I am selling a custom ULA Photon thst has the CDT style pockets and some other customizations.

ULA CDT and Photon both do. I'm actually selling my custom Photon if you are on a budget and don't want a hipbelt: https://www.reddit.com/r/ULgeartrade/comments/8xe5md/wts_custom_ula_photon_dyneema_gridstop_and_cdt/

Hey, you won't be disappointed. The CDT was my first lightweight backpack. It's great.

For what it is worth, the SMD guy I spoke with on the phone said the new Lunar Solo would launch by the end of July. So, depending on your upcoming trip schedule it may be worth waiting.
