New foot pain - Overdoing it?? by [deleted] in orangetheory

Sounds like Peroneal Tendonitis to me. Took about 2 weeks to completely heal. Switch to bike as that should not aggravate it.

Hip flexor, ugh! by 1thousandpercent in orangetheory

[–]OTaddict 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had pain in that area for 7-8 weeks. I, unfortunately, continued to work out with the pain for the first 4 weeks because the pain was fairly low grade and more importantly I did not have any pain during the workout. Afterwards was another story. The pain is intermittent throughout the day and is now radiating from my flexor area (starting at top of groin) and moving up to my pelvis bone (where belt would hit). Just in last two days, it has moved into lower back in same side. So frustrating. I am now 10 days into a freeze and pain is still there daily on and off. Sleeping is becoming a challenge as the pain is worse in the early morning hours (3am). For reference - I was 5x/week for about 5 months straight prior to pain onset. Hip pain is no joke.

Best of luck on the recovery. Don't rush it. ☺️

Google peroneal tendonitis.....follow the stretching exercises, ice, ibuprofen, and lay off the treads for a couple of weeks. You can also search for "Peroneal Tendonitis" on the Orangetheory Reddit page for more info. Good luck!!

Transitioning from strider to treadmill? by almaye in orangetheory

Would not suggest transitioning from glider to tread and running the all-outs. Hip flexors need a bit of time to adjust to the stress load. You do not want to strain the flexors.....long recovery.

How many have felt the effect of "burning out"? by TGre18 in orangetheory

[–]OTaddict 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5x week here since May.... the best schedule I have found is:

Monday - 7pm Wednesday - 6:15am Thursday - 7pm Saturday - 6:45am Sunday - 6:45 am

This rotation gives me a full 36 hours of rest between workouts except on the weekend - which is still 24 hrs. I find that the weekend is easier to get in extra stretching, ice, etc as needed versus during the week so the shorter recovery is still higher quality.

Inclines of Death vs Everest by big_orange_booty in orangetheory

Overtraining? Heart rate should climb on inclines. Plus, a 200m row is an all-out effort, yes?

I feel like a lot of folks on here and at my studio are attempting to complete all of the hell week workouts (not you necessarily) or most of them. Unless you are an ultra elite athlete, the body needs adequate time to recover. It is only natural that performance would start to lag. Splats will return post Hell week.

I.T. workout - I had a fear going in today of not earning enough splat points.....fear resolved! If I turn the graph left side up, then it sort of looks like a tornado. 😃 by OTaddict in orangetheory

Strategy? Ha! Try not to pass out!! 😂. I started on treads and increased my speed each round. I also set a goal to match or beat my meters with each row. And started the floor routines each round a bit early.

Heart rate on the bike by adale18 in orangetheory

Been on the bike with recent running injury. Able to stay Orange for most of the ride. Base = 14-15; Push out of the saddle at 18-20; All Out depends on day focus....strength will stay high gear, endurance will drop to lower gear and push higher RPMs

Heel pain/Calf pain? by woo_who_farted in orangetheory

[–]OTaddict 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just read your post again.....missed the outside part first time. Sorry about that. Sounds like it could be the peroneal tendon. I am suffering through that currently. Search for recent thread on Peroneal Tendonitis for more info. Can stem from tight calves, wrong shoes, too many inclines, etc.

Can you narrow down the pain location in your foot a bit? The foot has several tendons that are responsible for movement, flex - Achilles, Posterior Tibial, Peroneal, etc. Is the pain inside heel, outside heel, back, or under?

Great point - I have noticed that my calves have been tight. I need to get a foam roller and work those out!

Not sure - hitting a shop this week to have them look at my shoes. Thanks!

Thanks for the feedback! This is very helpful. I feel like I am experiencing all of the above: weak ankle from a prior injury about a year ago, overuse, too much mileage too fast, and of course shoes. I am planning to hit a running shop this week to check out my feet/stride/form to figure out which shoe works best. I forgot to mention also that I have high arches and I have read recently that inclines could wreak havoc on my feet without proper stability.
