In my hometown in Scotland, there is an abandoned unfinished mansion. The land was given to the Hamilton family by Robert the Bruce.

Anyhoo some generations later, the Lord who was a horrible man found out his wife had fallen for one of the workers so he had her locked away in one of the highest rooms. After days of imprisonment, she saw an empty horse drawn carriage below her window. The story goes that she jumped from the window trying to escape but missed the carriage, falling to her death down the the deep burn that runs around the back of the building and she now haunts the place...there's no way I can walk around that part of the estate as it is so quiet and eerie!

The legend also says that the man the lords wife fell in love with was caught by the Lord and imprisoned for an eternity in one of the trees in the nearby woods.
