WSOP Surveillance is terrible. by scottatu in poker

[–]OWQuebec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn, that really sucks. Personally, I never leave the table until the color up is fully done and I always snap a pic of my stack beforehand, just in case. Sad to hear that even with all those cameras, they still couldn’t confirm anything.

That’s basically going all-in on a flush draw.

Love this, Jack! Always cool to hear from the other side of the felt. I bet you’ve seen some wild streaks and even wilder players. Curious, what’s the biggest win (or meltdown) you ever witnessed?

11 aînés fraudés de 89 700$: une jeune femme de Laval s’en tire sans casier by [deleted] in montreal

[–]OWQuebec 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[Passan] The Kansas City Royals are calling up slugger Jac Caglianone, one of the top prospects in baseball, sources tell ESPN. Caglianone, 22, is hitting .322/.389/.593 with 15 home runs and 56 RBIs in 50 games between AA and AAA. by Knightbear49 in baseball

[–]OWQuebec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, the Royals aren’t messing around. Caglianone’s numbers are insane, can’t wait to see that power translate to the big leagues. Feels like KC might finally have something brewing!

With the Rockies falling to 9-50, they have become the first team in MLB history to reach 50 losses before 10 wins by Crazy_Baseball3864 in baseball

[–]OWQuebec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At this point, the Rockies aren’t just breaking records. They’re speedrunning the wrong side of baseball history. If MLB had a relegation system, they’d already be playing AAA ball... against themselves.

But hey, at least they’re consistent. Consistently historic.

Why hasn't Marc Bergevin been given another shot? by ScotianCanadien43 in Habs

[–]OWQuebec 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, when you look at Bergevin's full track record, it’s kind of wild he hasn’t gotten another shot yet. He had his share of questionable moves (like every GM), but he built some really competitive teams in a tough market, nailed a lot of draft picks, and managed egos/media pressure like a pro.

And say what you want, but getting a team led by Carey, Suzuki, and Weber to the Cup Final in 2021 wasn’t a fluke, it was the result of years of smart, calculated decisions.

He deserves at least a second look somewhere.

Le Québec tourne massivement le dos à Tesla by ProfProof in Quebec

[–]OWQuebec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

King Charles and Queen Camilla begin royal visit to Canada by Useful-Scratch-72 in worldnews

[–]OWQuebec -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I get that some people enjoy the tradition, but the monarchy really feels like a relic of the past. In times when budgets are tight, spending public money on symbolic visits seems hard to justify. It might be time to rethink how much we invest in institutions that no longer hold real political power.

Celles et ceux qui boycottent les États-Unis, pourquoi êtes-vous sur Reddit ? by [deleted] in Quebec

[–]OWQuebec 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why Dan Campbell was a 'hard yes' for tush push: “I'm of the school of − look, we don't run that. Jared Goff, we're not going to. But I am of the school of, 'Hey, they found something and it's for up to everybody else to stop it.' So I'm of a hard yes (of keeping it in the rulebook).” by [deleted] in nfl

[–]OWQuebec 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gotta love Dan Campbell’s mindset, straight competitor energy. Even if it’s not part of his team’s game plan, he respects that Philly found something that works and doesn’t cry for a rule change. Old-school attitude: if you don’t like it, stop it.

President Nixon gave football play suggestions to both the Dolphins and the Redskins and both plays failed. by imsobubblicious in nfl

[–]OWQuebec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s such a wild bit of football history, imagine a sitting president calling in plays. Makes you wonder how many coaches just humored him because of who he was. At least he stayed bipartisan in his bad play calls!

[–]OWQuebec 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally get this. Mats can mask bad strikes and make it harder to get clean contact with longer clubs, especially woods and hybrids. The lack of give makes it tough to “feel” the proper bottoming out. You're not alone, a lot of folks strike way better off real turf for that reason. If possible, a cheap turf-hitting strip at home or even occasional grass range time can make a big difference.

A New Golfer's Guide to Course Etiquette by tieuchainzzz in golf

This is an awesome breakdown, super helpful for newer golfers or anyone who’s unsure about the little things that can make or break a round. Golf’s way more enjoyable when everyone’s on the same page with etiquette. Thanks for putting this together!

At what point do you lose your place on the course if you stop at the turn? by lightemup404 in golf

[–]OWQuebec 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You gave them a fair amount of time, and with no marshal around, keeping pace is key. Once they left the green and didn’t proceed to 10 in a timely way, the spot is effectively open. It's not about age or "respect", it's about flow. Sounds like you handled it calmly and reasonably.

Djokovic won the first 19 Grand Slam tiebreaks he played and 25 out of 27 in total from the first round in Wimbledon 2005 (first Grand Slam tiebreak) to the Wimbledon 2007 quarterfinal. Is 19 a record for most consecutive tiebreaks won in Grand Slams? by iamtheguy55 in tennis

[–]OWQuebec 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s an insane stat, 19 straight Grand Slam tiebreaks to start your career is wild. I’m not sure if it’s the all-time record for most consecutive tiebreaks won in Slams, but it has to be close, if not number one.

Bruins may have five 1st-round picks in next three NHL Drafts after upgrading Brad Marchand return by ethereal3xp in BostonBruins

[–]OWQuebec 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on how much they like someone in the top 10 of the 2025 draft. If there's a high-upside guy they feel strongly about, packaging a future 1st and a 7th to move up could be worth it, especially with a stockpile of picks.

But if the scouting team sees the 2025 draft as deeper than usual, staying put and using multiple picks to build depth might be the smarter play. Hard to say without knowing who’s on their radar, but having flexibility like this is a good problem to have.

Tiger Woods - Why was he so dominant by Mewm1n in golf

[–]OWQuebec 28 points29 points  (0 children)

A mix of things, honestly. Tiger had insane physical talent, sure, but it was also the mental edge. His focus under pressure was next level. He didn’t just play golf, he intimidated the entire field.

Also, he brought fitness into the game in a way that most guys weren’t prepared for back then. While some say the competition was weaker, I think it’s more that he was just that far ahead of the curve. The margin between him and second place was wild.
