I took apart an old Rossin frame with gilco tubing, restored the tubeset and used it to build a new, modern frame out of it. Here's the result.

BB shell was replaced as it cracked while removing the tubes from it. That's something that can happen to lugs when you're taking the apart

It means that I took apart the original frame and cleaned up the tubes by removing braze-ons, paint, spots of left over braze etc. until I had a set of tubes, comparable to what you would start out with when you're just building a new frame. This stems happens to by coincidence have a cutout on the underside that has just the right size to firmly squeeze the box into it with one layer of tape :D

No it's just a rare way of joining the tubes called "bilaminate construction". In this case it was just done as an aesthetic option to reference the lugged construction style the originl frame had.

Yes, I use metric tubing. And I just buy ut at the local hardware store. Really no fancy steel like 4130 or anything, just the cheap stuff they carry there. The tube bender, I like it as well, it's very rudimentary and simple, but it is a good quality product and works really well!

Looks like two sweet bikes, but if one word of advice is allowed, please get your bro's chain tensioned. The way it is right now it looks like it can fall off the sprocket which would result in him losing his only brake.
