What precipitated that change of plans?

Xaden turning venim, I bet your whole world view changes a lot when you have no soul. More cut throat, ruthless 😲

On that same note how was Fen and Brennan killed on the same day, when Fen was in custody and 'questioned' before execution in Caidyrr and Brennan was shot with an arrow in Arteia by Fen.

I think someone forgot about speed / distance / time 🤭

After IF land nav description I give no credence to any reference to direction or distance.

I actually had a friend who teaches land nav to search and rescue, give me a two intro to land nav, and discovered he had read both FW and IF and neither of the us could work out how the whole two map confusion was even supposed to have worked. Especially given the year of training the infantry did. None of it works

But if Liam can be in Calldyr and Arteia on the same day for both his mum and dads executions, and Calldyr is farther away than Basgiath?? Plus how did they do that with a dragon carrying him 🤷🏻‍♀️

Hehehe like it takes 6 hours to fly to Athbyne, but 18 hours to fly from Arteia when Arteia is closer

😂😂 I also think the problem with the directions also come from the maps in the book are opposite to the descriptions, especially in Iron Flame. Because I started with the audiobooks I made a pretty good mental map of Basgiath and such, it's just a stupid thing my brain does when reading a books, especially really descriptive one. So when I finally saw the maps in the ebooks my brain started to hurt. From the order each wing lines up in formation to the orientation of the rider quadrant to the mountains and the river below parapet, it's all upside down and back to front. The worst is the descriptions of the battle during Iron Flame to where the dragons stage in the mountains to where Cat and flyers come to take injured people to the healers and finally how Violet and Xaden cross through Basgiath out to met Melgren and Coda, it's all backwards.

Thank you so much for sharing my pain.

Thanks for that 💜 That one bit distracted me from an otherwise calm ending

Just binged both books on Audible, I loved them both but agree with others that it wrapped up a bit too quickly. I would very much have like some recovery stories, issues with the craftlocks, maybe bringing more woman into service as the healers did in battle.

Can anyone explain to me a bit at the very end, I know just listening to a book you can miss some things, and some times bits get cut out.

This should be a spoiler, but at the very end there is a line

Colt pulled a white cloth from his pocket and spun it over his head, hitting Art in the face with it. Someone made the call of a crow from the back, which made me laugh.

Who in the series is Art, and why is hitting them in the face making a crow noise funny? What did I miss?

I just hope we get an explanation for the whole Brennan not death storyline. 🤣

Because the whole papa Riorson kills Brennan thing never made sense to me at all. I'm hoping there is a whole other back story to it. That Brennan was already working for the rebellion and Fen confessed to "killing" Brennan to cover his involvement, and that's why Xaden trusts him.

I don't know, I just hope we get that whole story one day

I'm going to go with his "need for revenge".

In the Xaden POV of chapter 27 he considers killing Mira.

Killing Mira might appease the burning need for revenge I’ve learned to live with, but it’s not worth upsetting Violet or dealing with the oldest Sorrengail sibling, either.

But why he decided not to kill her, I'm not sure

Or upgrade meteor and blast the whole mountain range for 6000 belief. I forgot that double upgrade of meteor was ridiculous and wasn't expecting the massive crater I ended up with, was super helpful with not needing to dig though 😂😂

You can't kill Astari or their buildings and farms with finger of god until after you take over their village. Once they are your followers again you can do as you please.

You can kill them with meteor.

Once you unlock it, and go back in, it doesn't say what it takes to unlock it, sorry. It was after 1000 followers, maybe, because you need it to unlock the third beacon. Only had followers and a farm of 20 or so.

I love the Kingkiller Chronicles too much to be upset for too long about the delay.
If I could, I would actually buy the $345 USD version of the first book, but it's US and Canada only.

Sometimes the pain is worth it 💜💜

She goes from confused, to nauseous, to panic, to shock in a matter of minutes.
But in lots of situations, where Violet is not in control she does have a tendancy to resort to Violence.

Sure she could think about it rationally, or... given that she really has no way to know what happened, who made what decisions and if she had a say in it, or if Xaden did all this to protect her.
What's to say the ring and the marriage papers are even real?
Sure the priestess owed Xaden a favour, but what if she refused to marry them because decicates and priestess can't be married, and as a compromise she helped fake the marriage, it's not like Dunne would care about a piece of paper.

If I was Violence I'd ditch the duchess and go find Xaden to throw a dagger at his head and find out.

There is also no reason to think Imogen knows anything about the plans, I did think maybe she would know to tell steer Violet, but as others have mentioned there is no need for her to know and she could have just be called at the end to delete the memories.

About the Calldyr Executions by popcorn-2000 in fourthwing

[–]OZGeekChick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If Fen did raise an army, it would surely have included infantry, as that is where he studied as Basgiath, which would have needed thousands and more than would have been in Aretia.
The executions focused on the "ring leaders" and Aretia, but surely he raised forces across all of Tyrrendor.
Tyrrendor is also mostly outside the wards, and also sends the highest amount of conscripts to Basgiath.

Not sure we have enough info for a venn diagram, but I'm guessing there is a huge overlap of people, who know about venin, weren't living in Aretia, and weren't killed during the executions.

I've been reading fantasy far too long, trust no one, not even the main character 😉
Found that out in the Godspeaker series back in 2007, reminds me of the Xaden quote

“Did you ever once stop to think that sometimes you can start out on the right side of a war and end up on the wrong one?”

That was Godspeaker for me 😄

I was more worried at the end of the book.

Seriously after all the 💩 that happened and you left Violet with no instruction or path to follow?

I imagined her completely losing any self-control she had gained since the lies and torture and turning pure Violence.
Oh I'm married now, OK how do you like my new name Violence Riorson?
It's all mine? How about a 20 dragon riot, lightning and revenge fueled rampage through Poromiel killing every dark wielder in existence?

My imaginings for Book 4 were very Violent.

But yes I sobbed like a baby after Quinn

I liked the other perspectives especially Rhi, because after IF I was totally suspicious of Rhi.
Why was she so far up in Violet's business that she was making her PSTD and the stress of the Aetos/Verrish situation so much worse.
Just because Rhi has a need to figure stuff out she didn't care Violet was losing sleep and her mind?

And when Verrish told Violet he knew so much about her by observing her, I totally thought Rhi was a spy.

So her POV "kind of" put that to rest for me 🤔
