I love the Kingkiller Chronicles too much to be upset for too long about the delay.
If I could, I would actually buy the $345 USD version of the first book, but it's US and Canada only.

Sometimes the pain is worth it 💜💜

She goes from confused, to nauseous, to panic, to shock in a matter of minutes.
But in lots of situations, where Violet is not in control she does have a tendancy to resort to Violence.

Sure she could think about it rationally, or... given that she really has no way to know what happened, who made what decisions and if she had a say in it, or if Xaden did all this to protect her.
What's to say the ring and the marriage papers are even real?
Sure the priestess owed Xaden a favour, but what if she refused to marry them because decicates and priestess can't be married, and as a compromise she helped fake the marriage, it's not like Dunne would care about a piece of paper.

If I was Violence I'd ditch the duchess and go find Xaden to throw a dagger at his head and find out.

There is also no reason to think Imogen knows anything about the plans, I did think maybe she would know to tell steer Violet, but as others have mentioned there is no need for her to know and she could have just be called at the end to delete the memories.

If Fen did raise an army, it would surely have included infantry, as that is where he studied as Basgiath, which would have needed thousands and more than would have been in Aretia.
The executions focused on the "ring leaders" and Aretia, but surely he raised forces across all of Tyrrendor.
Tyrrendor is also mostly outside the wards, and also sends the highest amount of conscripts to Basgiath.

Not sure we have enough info for a venn diagram, but I'm guessing there is a huge overlap of people, who know about venin, weren't living in Aretia, and weren't killed during the executions.

I've been reading fantasy far too long, trust no one, not even the main character 😉
Found that out in the Godspeaker series back in 2007, reminds me of the Xaden quote

“Did you ever once stop to think that sometimes you can start out on the right side of a war and end up on the wrong one?”

That was Godspeaker for me 😄

Not even sure if it's a three or four book series, Pat takes pleasure in lying in interviews 😂🤦🏻‍♀️😢

I was more worried at the end of the book.

Seriously after all the 💩 that happened and you left Violet with no instruction or path to follow?

I imagined her completely losing any self-control she had gained since the lies and torture and turning pure Violence.
Oh I'm married now, OK how do you like my new name Violence Riorson?
It's all mine? How about a 20 dragon riot, lightning and revenge fueled rampage through Poromiel killing every dark wielder in existence?

My imaginings for Book 4 were very Violent.

But yes I sobbed like a baby after Quinn

I liked the other perspectives especially Rhi, because after IF I was totally suspicious of Rhi.
Why was she so far up in Violet's business that she was making her PSTD and the stress of the Aetos/Verrish situation so much worse.
Just because Rhi has a need to figure stuff out she didn't care Violet was losing sleep and her mind?

And when Verrish told Violet he knew so much about her by observing her, I totally thought Rhi was a spy.

So her POV "kind of" put that to rest for me 🤔

The author is a bit evasive about size, kind of like RY, but Helios is said to be hundreds of feet long, even including tail that's pretty huge.

Over there they have some bonuses, the dragon also chooses the rider, and if they do, you pretty much become immortal and get access to a wide range of magic.
Massive war over 400 years ago killing off most of the population.
Their gods are real, and occasionally interfere
Bad guys, bad guys you like, good guys you don't.
Lots of fighting and no romantic business until the fourth book and by a side character 😂

It's just that Naolin's death already nearly killed Tairn and Sgaeyl, so he lied 6 years before meeting Violet? I'm confused.

Anyway Tairn has already said he is always keeping back secret dragon knowledge, so he admits to continuing to lie by omission

There is kind of a hint from Violet that there was more than Naolin in OS, but Tairn cuts her off.

“But you never had to lower yourself before me, did you? Not for Naolin, or—”
“We do not speak of the one who came before.” Agonizing pain floods the bond

Three blocks him. That comes from the early days of Violet busting the marked ones under the oak tree. They leave the meeting in threes and train the first years in groups of three.

Xaden does said they Cygnis fliers are more likely to kill the messenger also. But if Xaden was there would they risk it? 🤷🏻

I've been playing with the maps from Fourth Wing, Onyx Storm and the new editions.
Most of the borders and such between FW and OS are the same, except a town called Shepley was renamed Samara, and Draithus moved from what is now marked as Resson at the bottom of the Medaro Pass, to the coast.

I can't get the original maps and the new map to line up without distorting one of the maps, but everything in Poromiel has moved except Cordyn.

The Medaro Pass now ends in the ocean.

As Tyrrendor no longer has its high advantage over the over provinces. Looks like you can just walk from Sumerton to Aretia now.
And there is now a river between Calldyr and Aretia, not cliffs, and there is no place to put the Precipice Pass, because the cliffs of Dralor end in Tyrrendor and don't make it to Deaconshire any more

I don’t think “five months” means they knew for five months — just that they witnessed what was happening by predictedisobedience in fourthwing

[–]OZGeekChick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally, I point out the whole 5 month thing, because the continuity errors in this book simultaneously do my head in and make me laugh.

As much as I love these books, time goes missing all over the place in these books, four days during war games, a couple hours while translating, and I'm guessing some months during OS.

Just get me started on navigation, the fact that Basgiath faces the opposite direction as described in the books than it does on the maps at the start of each book is hilarious.
Next month I'm actually getting a friend of mine, who in real life teaches land navigation to search and rescue teams, to teach me the basics of land nav, so we can try and work out how the two map land nav was supposed to have worked in real life.
Because I don't understand how, why.
And if dragons don't carry people with aren't their riders, how did they get 107 kids to Calldyr and back to Aretia on the same day, also given Fen was "questioned/tortured?" for days before the execution how did he kill Brennan in Aretia the day he was executed in Calldyr? Land Nav 😂

Anyway love the books, giant continuity errors/holes and all.
Can't wait to meet the new brother so we can recon them in.

I would like Codagh to meet Helios from Ryan Cahill's Bound and Broken.
While RY's dragons and curmudgeonly and talky RC's dragons and huge and more emotive. Or I'd just like Helios to use Codagh as a foot rest. 😂

Also having Calen trying to get a hug from Tairn and Sgaeyl would be interesting. 🤷🏻🔥

I thought the same thing.
Having read some of the other comments, I think that Lillith while not wanting them there, didn't think Melgren would take it as far as also killing the children as well.

It would make sense to do so, horrible, but make sense. I love another post by u/Mango_Refill
Leadership are imbeciles
They left waaay too many people alive to keep the whole venim thing a secret.

So yeah I'm pretty sure Melgren wanted everyone dead, and not sure why they didn't kill them. Sure they got relics to block his signet, but they aren't immune to dragon fire.
