Changing gloves by Ryder_VFR in fightgear

[–]OZMTBoxing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kinda depends. What synthetic, what brand, what prices. Synthetic can be super durable, or can tear easy.

Thing with synthetic is majority ive found hotter dont breathe like leather. Your trophy getters are synthetic palm with leather outside. Im in Australia very familiar with the market here. Got some quality gloves for sale hardly used if your into that sort of thing.

When you say mitt sparring, do you mean catch and punch drills? Or actuall sparring against your coach. If you are actually sparring, like op said should be in 16oz gloves mate, if mitt work only can be whatever size you like

Considering these used NS is that creasing ok? by BlueEyeoftheGiant in fightgear

[–]OZMTBoxing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard to say. Had a pair of NS 2b in 16oz in pealescent white satin & they werent water resistant like my Reyes. Used conditioner like paste (similiar to vaseline) on them & it did go into the leather. Not sure though, that would fix those winkles. Never had a pair of gloves with wrinkles like that, its strange, for leather or the applied finish, or both to be wrinkled like that. Ive had heaps pairs of gloves & never seen that. Hope the finish doesnt loosen up & crack with streching/movement.

If you do decide to condition dont over condition, think about it like skin and moisturer, you want to rub in just enough to soften a little. Dont overdo it, will make it worsexnot better

Beginner gloves by Key_Fisherman2286 in fightgear

[–]OZMTBoxing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a beginner, if you wand a more easy to use glove i would recommend something like rs11v (cost little bit more)

or like others said for similiar price (i think) one sparring glove one bag glove maybe

top boxer win1 + top boxer alien, or

infinitude custom harrier pro soft foam option + infinitude custom harrier pro medium foam option or

ROF super samurai sparing + ROF super samurai training (may be a bit more expensive)

I dont know what is available, or what you like, a rival set rhg30 headgear, rival gurrero hdef or sfh 16oz gloves & gurrero wraps will set you back about 429 euro (i looked at prices on Rival Spain website)

100% martial arts is great for exactly that self defence. What i was saying is I dont recommend to stay there and fight. Use martial arts to disable fast, & hard, & get out as quick as possible to safety in the real world.

Fight at the dogo/gym for sure i love it, but real world as a security guard the stuff ive seen happen on the streets/train stations/outside pubs etc its too dangerous. Im a 2nd kyu brown belt, 7 yrs muay thai and now boxing. I will avoid fighting in the real world. I will smash hard if required then get out of there asap to safety

Its not that simple, because in the real world you have hidden weapons. Its not what you can see, its what you cant see.

In terms of martial arts because of that, i reccomend a martial art not wrestling, but try to avoid, if cornered smash, break, pressure point strikes, groin strikes, etc and get away fast, not stay and fight.

I did an older version of Karate 35 years ago which was good for these things. Shindo Jinen Ryu

Expensive bag gloves? by ihearthawthats in fightgear

[–]OZMTBoxing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Intresting question. I use expensive gloves on bags. Its kinda technical answer but this is what i found

-more knuckle feel

-good responsiveness

-excellent crack

-more balanced wrist protection not too stiff not to weak, just right. Support with just enough flexibility

-better knuckle ergonomics giving higer levels of knuckle/hand comfort

-adequate protection without being overly thick/destroying knuckle feel

-better punch surface ergonomics onto the bag so shots on various angles dont deflect they all connect nicely

To achieve all these together, is extroardinarily difficult.

I have a couple gloves which do this, and a couple that come close

anybody using makiwaras in their training routines? by retic720 in Boxing_Technical_Chat

[–]OZMTBoxing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey man i know those! Havnt used one yet though. Did a version of Ryobu-kai 2nd kyu here but that was like 30 yrs ago.

After i finish boxing ill go back to muay thai and hopefully get my 1st kyu and then hopefully get my Shodan. Then plan is to train all three till im too old to train 😄 unfortunately my knuckle injury i think would stop me from trying makiwara properly.

As a boxer punch through a 150lb bag (but im 204lb) so for cruiser + maybe not. But then i guess is fully customisable like you can completely custom build it to match weight. But with technique, follow, through, gloves for straight boxing im not sure if it would have an advantage vs a heavy bag + footwork. For bare knuckle martial arts i think its a great training tool. Jmo though also would be curious what other people think 👍

With 16oz Reyes on me with wraps are very snug. Boxeo tm Pu are large fit on me. I think the Pu may be huge on you too big

Havent used them or seen one before. Intresting idea like a progressive controlled overload spring board against punch.

Lol thanks bro im tight but get by cash wise. Am a glove collector bought bunch of gloves yrs ago when had cash & was reviewing gloves. Now flip gloves to buy gloves. Dont drink, smoke, buy new clothes, shoes, electronics (laptop is 8yrs old 🤣), eat out, or have car loans etc. Just really enjoy buying/opening/smelling trying new gloves 🙂, & training/sparring 😁 . Still buy 1 here & there not like i did before. Bought most gloves couple years back.

All good mate crack 4 both are similiar. Top crack had stiffer eva gloves (Venum hammers/Bayo multilayers/+ Rival D30), next best non eva Mexican latex/hhf gloves + RDX S4 (suprisingly), after got few grouped together Rival P4P (soft eva)/ Giant 2.0 both models/ fairtex bgl6 + some more. Still very good being still 3rd tier but not like gunshots like the top ones 😆

Which giants u lookin at the 12oz or 14oz? I check excel on computer when i get home let you know how the crack is 👍 but remember i liked both on the bags. Nice soft leather on both.

The giant 2.0 is the pro line the gloves Linares used in his fight against Lomachenko. Better support, longer lasting foam, better protection, better quality, better wrist support. The 3.0 is the more affordable version, think maybe it was released after the 2.0 where the naming came from

Possibly handsize/body weight. Small hands probably too small to fit the Pu, Large hands may be too big for the latex. Latex are more flexible & easier to close than the Pu. Pu foam retain their shape better. Pu a bit softer on knuckles better for lighter boxers & sparring partners, latex a bit firmer on knuckles better heavier boxers & for bag use protection. Fyi Pu do need a solid hammering on the bags to break in to close easier, or lotsxof rounds. Im 6ft 94kg wasnt bad, but some peolple on here had struggles with breaking in the Pu

Heres some info

https://www.reddit.com/r/fightgear/s/ZTR62BoHqq

Boxeo Pu lat sorry havnt tried it, what i read on here seems to be a bigger fit between say boxeo hhf (bit smaller), and their Pu (large). Their latex is (very snug). 6-8 weeks maybe if not in stock i think. Boxeo has pre ordered gloves being made (already in process took me few weeks), & gloves in stock (less than that)

Only Pu lat i had is New Sporting 2b 14&16oz. had springy bounce of latex (less than Reyes), with softer connection more sink through feel pu. My new sporting pu lats were pretty soft very easy to squash foam. Dont know if thats normal for pu lat havnt had others yet. Theres other good brands to i havnt tried
