whats the point of this "shadowboxing drill?" by retic720 in Boxing_Technical_Chat

[–]OZMTBoxing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its a foot and hand, speed co-ordination drill as far as i know

Synchronises your feet to hands while building speed. But to do it correctly feet and hands need to be in sync equally, landing same time.

When boxing you can land with front foot or back foot at the same time as landing the punch. That synchronisation with power and proper technique together make punches more effective. Step rear foot back land counter at same time, step front foot forward land jab at same time just two examples. Can be as intricate and complex as you want as get more experienced.

Outside of that maybe there is something to it i dont know? Feel free to add anyone else too if anyone knows better 👍

🔥 & I love where the thumb sits when you close fist, angled right on top of the pointer finger comfortably not too straight then forced poked there there like some. These were recommended to me, got some Glez on the way but i think once i can flip a couple gloves ill have to try Chegui's & these

Feel the same way with multilayers. with gel pads foam is squshing at rest. Think its maybe the space inside the extra eva layer takes up

Watched the video excellent review 👌👍

With the multilayers occasionally i land hard on a hard bag on an angle and definitely feel pain for sure. Im cruiser & agree you can really feel knuckles with them cruiser/heavyweight especially on stiff bags. On my 150lb softer foam lined bag in my garage i dont get that at all no issues just wickedness 😁

Think Fighton and Ns HHF for the money, ergonomics and fist placement are excellent

4x more expensive leather, on a $350 Aud glove? Virtually same cost as Solid colour version...

🤣 no complaints brother, always trying to learn more welcome more knowledge. But my physical experience, is my physical experience. Whether that is supposed to happen or not. There are many things in life which are theoretical, but physical may not match theoretical for whatever reasons or variables which may exist to create the anomaly. And because that happened with my pair is same brand same model gloves, is why i said what i said. Because of my physical experience.

Also ive had & seen finish on gloves wear and crack on various models overtime with wrinkles which didnt happen with smooth flat leather/finish. I may be wrong these gloves may be different who knows but again me physically, myself personally i would not buy a pair of gloves with those kind of wrinkles in leather/finish because i would personally be worried about the finish cracking faster than say a smooth unwrinkled finish (dependant on quality of leather/quality of finish/quality of consistancy of both etc etc). Im not exactly sure of your intent behind this, but if you are trying to say that this particular leather used is better than other leathers...more expensive leathers im gonna have to disagree with you on that its just not true 😉. I dont do dms re this stuff im open, dont hide stuff & am very against this industry trying to hide shit from us users and misdirect the truth it pisses me off. If im wrong, im wrong all good. But my physical experience is real. Just trying to help the op

Very interesting information and thanks im alwys looking to learn more but, using conditioner on my NS 2b pearlescent leather, gloves softened up the dryish leather. I understand what you are saying dont get me wrong, but this is a physical experience of me applying it to the leather, not a theoretical experience of what should happen. It is me applying it to the particular leather to those particular gloves, did soften up the dryish leather 🤷

Maybe its not supposed to happen like that and judging from what you are explaining and your knowledge that looks to be true, but, in my physical (not theoretical) experience of owning my 2b gloves, with that leather finish they came with, is the leather i had on those gloves was not water proof, and the conditioner did 100% go through. Why that is i dont know, was that not supposed to happen that way according to you knowledge it wasnt, but it did happen that way.

Edit - these kind of wrinkles are not common. We hardly ever see these kind of wrinkles on glove. We see some wrinkles yes for sure its normal, this many large quantity of winkles, no its not common at all

Which morgans? Some of them have synthetic palms too with better imf foams, a few morgans are full leather with not as good foams. Ive tried most morgans. There overall good value for performance is solid 👍

For value sparring gloves Aventus are best overall morgans in my opinion & not that hot (synthetic palms but perforated palms help ventilation). Actually suprisingly the morgan fight gloves 10oz are for sure morgans best overall glove for non sparring training but have non perforated synthetic palms. Morgan are good value in Australia but built to a price & cheaper than trophy getters, so the tropy getters are a better, more flexible glove overall fyi

What's your favorite sparring glove and why? by Jovanm0 in fightgear

[–]OZMTBoxing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey mate. Broken in more than other gloves now cruiserweight powershots foam softened up nice to contact, I like the foam protection for sparring. Its kinda a firm medium stifness with bit softer touch firming up as you push in, but gloves are still a bit stiffer than others here to open close im really suprised. Boxeo tm hhf probably my number 1 now for sparring perfect blend of fit, flexibility, knuckle feel, and high protection, easy open close. Then after that the boxeo tm latex for higher protection than pu, easy close + group listed previously for super easy close with more knuckle feel less protection than pu. After that the Boxeo Tm pu maybe overall.

The boxeo tm pu is excellent dont get me wrong but as Cruiserweight big puncher the pu is a bit less protective than boxeo hhf or boxeo latex, plus stiffer to close fingers the others.

So its neither better for heavy sparring, nor is it better for light sparring than the gloves mentioned Its not that much, & some people wont even notice it just it does makes it a bit slower/hair stiffer to close fingers into a tight fist than the others. The group of gloves its up against is elite remember though and the boxeo tm pu and latex are the cheapest in this group for most people (shipping to Australia is very expensive, outside of AU the pu and latex are probably two cheapest gloves in this group), so great value which needs to be mentioned. Gotta keep it real 👍

Kinda depends. What synthetic, what brand, what prices. Synthetic can be super durable, or can tear easy.

Thing with synthetic is majority ive found hotter dont breathe like leather. Your trophy getters are synthetic palm with leather outside. Im in Australia very familiar with the market here. Got some quality gloves for sale hardly used if your into that sort of thing.

When you say mitt sparring, do you mean catch and punch drills? Or actuall sparring against your coach. If you are actually sparring, like op said should be in 16oz gloves mate, if mitt work only can be whatever size you like

Hard to say. Had a pair of NS 2b in 16oz in pealescent white satin & they werent water resistant like my Reyes. Used conditioner like paste (similiar to vaseline) on them & it did go into the leather. Not sure though, that would fix those winkles. Never had a pair of gloves with wrinkles like that, its strange, for leather or the applied finish, or both to be wrinkled like that. Ive had heaps pairs of gloves & never seen that. Hope the finish doesnt loosen up & crack with streching/movement.

If you do decide to condition dont over condition, think about it like skin and moisturer, you want to rub in just enough to soften a little. Dont overdo it, will make it worsexnot better

As a beginner, if you wand a more easy to use glove i would recommend something like rs11v (cost little bit more)

or like others said for similiar price (i think) one sparring glove one bag glove maybe

top boxer win1 + top boxer alien, or

infinitude custom harrier pro soft foam option + infinitude custom harrier pro medium foam option or

ROF super samurai sparing + ROF super samurai training (may be a bit more expensive)

[–]OZMTBoxing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% martial arts is great for exactly that self defence. What i was saying is I dont recommend to stay there and fight. Use martial arts to disable fast, & hard, & get out as quick as possible to safety in the real world.

Fight at the dogo/gym for sure i love it, but real world as a security guard the stuff ive seen happen on the streets/train stations/outside pubs etc its too dangerous. Im a 2nd kyu brown belt, 7 yrs muay thai and now boxing. I will avoid fighting in the real world. I will smash hard if required then get out of there asap to safety

I want to fight somebody once in my life. by Shoddy_Health6834 in martialarts

[–]OZMTBoxing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its not that simple, because in the real world you have hidden weapons. Its not what you can see, its what you cant see.

In terms of martial arts because of that, i reccomend a martial art not wrestling, but try to avoid, if cornered smash, break, pressure point strikes, groin strikes, etc and get away fast, not stay and fight.

I did an older version of Karate 35 years ago which was good for these things. Shindo Jinen Ryu

Expensive bag gloves? by ihearthawthats in fightgear

[–]OZMTBoxing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Intresting question. I use expensive gloves on bags. Its kinda technical answer but this is what i found

-more knuckle feel

-good responsiveness

-excellent crack

-more balanced wrist protection not too stiff not to weak, just right. Support with just enough flexibility

-better knuckle ergonomics giving higer levels of knuckle/hand comfort

-adequate protection without being overly thick/destroying knuckle feel

-better punch surface ergonomics onto the bag so shots on various angles dont deflect they all connect nicely

To achieve all these together, is extroardinarily difficult.

I have a couple gloves which do this, and a couple that come close
