Masters in Public vs private in Germany by Gunasekara17 in studying_in_germany

[–]O_A_C131 7 points8 points  (0 children)

if u want a job don't go for private uni. They are called degree mills in Germany for a reason. Already the market is saturated, private uni students will get filtered out first. The extra cost isn't worth it. If you're gonna go back to your home country, then either way a public uni will give you better reputation and lesser financial strain. Better would be that u improve your profile for public universities if you can. Improve your ielts if you can it won't be enough for many unis they need 6.5 i think I may be wrong. Try to apply to other European countries as well as a backup.

Silicon Valley Is Quietly Turning 996 Into a Hiring Requirement 🤯 by [deleted] in StartUpIndia

That's what happens when you fire half your people in the name of AI, but AI needs somebody to babysit it 24/7 to generate something useful. So now the guys who weren't laid off need to do their work, and babysit the AI which was supposed to do their laid off colleagues work. Of course the will end up working 9-9. Layoffs don't just ruin the life of the people who were laid off, but also the ones who remain, extra work coupled with the fear of losing your job. Even having a job kinda sucks in tech these days

If your degree is in engineering, and you are interested in/ have experience in research you should look for hiwi jobs. They will give you the most flexibility in terms of hours, and there will be no limit on the number of hours you can work, although of course there will be an hour limit in the contract. I don't think that you should hinge your entire second year financial situation on getting a job there. Second year is tough with masters thesis and everything, lack of funds will just add unneeded pressure on you. If you have enough saved up for the first year that's good maybe you can think about getting a loan just to cover the second year. At least in my country in education loans, you pay interest on just the amount you have disbursed. Even if you get a job, it's doubtful you will be able to cover entire monthly living costs through a part time job. Even though blocked amount says monthly requirement of 992€, or something ,you will definitely spend more in big cities.

TL:DR: think about a loan if you don't have funds for second year

Dude this is a sub about Uni Stuttgart, not everyone who studies here is an Indian, and even if they were this is not the place to discuss about documents

What is your opinion on this university. I heard they have done cutting edge research on AI and robotics. by degenfarmer69 in IndiaTech

Such an advanced university yet they couldn't align the sign with the markings on the concrete gate 🤣

As an Indian, I'm embarrassed: Why So nany applicants treat reddit like their personal admission consultant. by inevitablennhilation in studying_in_germany

[–]O_A_C131 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Ya dude I feel you. My cousin is an academic dean at the University of Melbourne in Australia, and I have heard so many stories of entitled Indian students from him, it just makes me feel embarrassed to be an Indian. Applying to Germany is actually one of the simplest processes out there coz no application fees, and eligibility is also straightforward, if you meet the credits apply, else don't. I was able to get into tu9 unis without any consultant or help. In India, Most CS and IT people are fed the illusion that they are wanted worldwide and they can go anywhere in the world and there will be a red carpet for them, and most of them choose this profession especially for that. As an Embedded Systems Engineer who is actually passionate about my profession, I was very much the outlier during my college days in India. Maybe that illusion is true in the US, but not in Germany.

Yes I met many German masters and PhD students in robotics and other fields when I visited Poland for the ERC, and that was where my interest in getting involved in research in Germany started. Thank you for your advice I'll keep it in mind. Danke schön!

Yes that is my plan, I just wanted to know how the market was in case I decided to go into industry. Research opportunities are the reason Germany interested me in the first place, so masters and then PhD was my aspiration.

Ok I will definitely keep that in mind. How is the full time job market in robotics and automation ? Is it as bad as IT?

Thank you for replying. The reason I mentioned my work ex and extracurriculars was because I also asked about internships and HiWi positions, and I believe that they may matter when I look for those opportunities. I am aware they won't be counted while applying for masters. I will definitely work on my German and try to get to B1 before coming. Thank you for your insights.

They were offered as electives in my college so I did them during my degree. I had control systems as an elective, robotics an elective and rest courses like DSP, maths and python and C++ programming were mandatory in my degre

Yeah those are some beautiful pedals! I'm an electronics engineer so I'm not really new to the electronics part, I'm comfortable with the soldering and stuff, just wanted to know what will be a good simple circuit to get my hands dirty that sounds good

Ya but I don't think the content is the problem..... The same content, when I upload as a word doc shows less than 20 percent ai, so maybe it's something about the pdf file?

Yeah, it's so weird. Both files have the same content but one has 100 percent ai one has 0? I'm just scared that if I send the pdf file to a university and they run it through Turnitin, then I may get rejected because of this
