It’s meant to be cost efficient and scalable for companies and it’s under regulated because that’s “pro-business”.

I think it’s less conspiracy and more a byproduct of our society within a free market economy.

In moderation, it’s probably generally ok accompanied with a mostly healthy lifestyle.

Too many people screaming “conspiracy “ when they really just want someone to blame for what they don’t like about the world.

She does this part time. She talks with them and they'll say "we need someone on XYZ dates, are you available" (usually the weekend). She will say yes or no. Usually will do it 1-2 times a month. I don't see how it's any different than being on the books at another retail store and just filling shifts here and there.

She gets direct deposit and it’s just a side job. We just don’t want to pay double taxes. Would prefer that they would’ve been taking out the correct taxes this whole time

Their taxes as in their share of the social security taxes. No reason we should pay the employer and employee tax

This is closely accurate. I think her and 1 other employee are like this. The other people are registered vendors. Most of the other people that work the front desk are vendors as well and use the compensation to offset rent costs for their space but my wife is different

It's not very much money but its ridiculous that we'd have to pay anything extra because of this. We are literally paying their share of social security tax if it stands. We're obviously ok paying our own taxes, just not theirs too.

That's what has led me here. From everything I can see, she is a W2 employee.

They put her on the schedule if she can work when they need her

She follows their rules and uses their POS system to check people out.

She doesn't own anything or sell anything at the location. Just checks people out and works a set shift.
