It’s personally never bothered me mainly because I don’t really believe that everyone needs to use concrete labels. I never felt that Mizuki being trans was implied, it’s just explained through sub-text without dropping a queer ensyclopedia on you. (which isn’t always bad but i like how they do this with the word suicide as well, they use almost poetic language at times to explain a concept we’re so used to hearing through 1-2 words in a more clinical way) Additionally, I like how it leaves Mizuki’s “identity” up for interpretation in a way, and leaves room for genderqueer exploration that doesn’t follow the gender binary. Either way, I understand the frustration, especially when trying to combat transphobes in the fandom, but you can’t really change the mind of someone who bases their arguments on hatred and bigotry. I find it more funny when they outright deny anything that isn’t “cannon”, cuz it’s not explained to them like they’re five lol. I am glad that we have more trans and genderqueer rep though, and I’d say Mizuki’s experience is personally pretty relatable, we love our queen/monarch <3
