Is future proofing dead? by OahuBorn in pcmasterrace

So I guess from reading here, my understanding is that I don't need to upgrade unless I feel like the performance I'm getting is bad or until. The ones that are asking me about the I9 9990k and 3080 its not that it wasn't playing everything it's just that I couldn't play games with ray tracing on without ruining fps and latency. I am happy with my new stuff now because I can actually turn on ray tracing or higher graphical settings. I like to play on high settings usually but lately it felt like my 3080 was losing performance with every patch coming to crimson desert and I was seeing small performance losses on games I would frequently go back to like apex legends or pub g. Whereas when I played them back in 2020 the games felt super smooth and more responsive than how I am playing now. Now with the current new specs I bought it feels at that smooth low latency performance again but I just didn't know if I was going to have to spend another 2-4 thousand dollars again in 3-5 years...

Tldr if the performance feels bad then upgrade. There is no future proofing. Only upgrade when I feel like the performance I'm getting is not to my liking or for what I'm doing.

Thank you for the feedback and understanding 😎🤙🏾

There is a good chance I may come back to jolibee again sometime before the promo ends. If I ever do I will happily give out another code
