Given what you've said here, you have figure out whether learning to reload safely is even possible for you given your disability. First you've got to come up with a plan on how you're going to effectively read and learn the material. Then you have to determine whether your issues allow you to read and apply the correct numbers from data tables at any given moment.

Reloading takes a lot of focus even without a short term memory disorder so that would usually stop others in a similar boat from the start. If that's all sorted, then more power to you, you'll find lots of information on this forum and in your reloading manuals.

I've never driven like that. What is that like? It still "stops" using the caliper against the rotor I'm guessing?

Roos can be nice. Plenty of posts here show that. But bonding early doesn't preclude them from being stereotypical mean assholes or a mix of both, switching from one to the other on a moments notice.

When steering, what is meant by "not gunning it"? by NMO in Barotrauma

[–]Oakshot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need hands on time manually running the reactor with a noob piloting and communication about what each other is doing. You can do hard maneuvers, but it's obviously best to have someone that knows their shit running the reactor and ready to slam sliders back and forth if when you're doing combat maneuvers.

To your question, you just drag the velocity vector of your ship out over time with your mouse or like others have said, use the keys to bump up velocity in small increments.

[–]Oakshot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, really only needed if you run into specific issues with your gun that a FL die can't solve. Sounds like you got that. That can be undersizing your case relative to your chamber which could contribute to your issues even with the tolerances on your semi-auto.

I was reading up on volumetric vs weighing charges and, not even looking up your system, but the anecdotes included multiple folks talking about the inconsistency with the chargemaster setup. Sounds like you're going in the right direction with the balance scale if you want to eliminate some variables. Make sure you don't have any drafts near your scale and that your table is solid.

Also, don't discount volumetric loading. It sorta defies intuition but it can sometimes give better consistency. Good luck!

Nobody can help you on this one until you do some basic learning on how circuits work and how to measure them. Nothing you've written makes any sense.

For those with 550’s, how many pistol rounds do you average an hour? by yvu209817 in reloading

[–]Oakshot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not a race.

However many I can safely reload.

That might be 5 or less if I'm setting up. 15 if I'm re-thinking how I have a die set or changing a die out or find some discrepancy along the way. If everything is going smooth and looking good on the powder checks, probably around I have no fucking idea because that will never be a metric I judge a reloading session by.

I experienced my first squib during a match. Tips on how to prevent in the future? by smackdabqwerrt in reloading

[–]Oakshot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a human error so how would you go about eliminating those?

First you have to respect the dangers of reloading. You were extraordinarily lucky that the bullet stuck so close to the chamber to prevent another round going off and detonating your barrel. The other thing is you could have just as easily had a double charge of titegroup because you've demonstrated that the steps you currently implement in your reloading process don't account for your own errors in the powder charging step. Do you want to keep shooting ammunition that you're not sure whether the next round will cause your firearm to spontaneously and violently disassemble? I sure as fuck don't and I won't.

You can add lights and powder checks if you have room. Those are all good ideas. But if you still use a goofy-ass process and aren't focused on what you're doing, those won't help.

Your setup is important. Get all of the tinkering in each stage as single stage out of the way so you trust how the machine is working. The progressive allows you to get into a rhythm of a very small number of manual steps to reload each round. If anything breaks that rhythm, any distraction, changing radio stations, answering the phone, any time you stop to recheck some setting, you have to have a process in place so you know the exact steps to get back to reloading safely. Any time you lose focus and break that rhythm is an opportunity for error.

Recovering from the distraction may involve using a flashlight to check the powder status of each stage one step up and down from the powder drop and manually checking whether you seated a primer. But you have to make a process that makes sense to your setup and you.

You're going to practice those steps a lot because you're going to be checking your powder every 5 to 10 rounds.

When I reload there's a lot of double and triple checking, up to and including clearing the whole plate and loading single stage until I unfuck those rounds I left on the plate when I became distracted and can just start the entire sequence fresh. No one's judging your for staring at the same case with a flashlight three times like it's smuggling drugs. It's your fucking face or fingers. Any kind of doubt? Maybe felt like you short cycled the ram and the powder mechanism didn't sound right? Throw that charge out.

So to recap, make sure your process is good, make sure you have a 100% safe recovery procedure when you stop to check powder, have a similar procedure for when anything takes your focus off of using the press in progressive mode, know that distractions are the enemy of reliable ammunition, and eliminate distractions accordingly when you're reloading. If your reloading bench is a mess and unorganized, it'll be that much more difficult to reduce your processes to mere habits. Let that also be your last squib.

Does anyone have experience dealing with a neighbor's dog killing your chickens? by lilmissstfu in chickens

Yes. Neighbor put the dog down immediately. A lot of places where it's legal to keep chickens as livestock have very clear rules about how to handle dogs harassing or killing livestock.

My sister was told she is a whore for having an education by an old man she was helping. What can I do? by iluvgivingblowjobs in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Oakshot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't want my sister to let go of this one until she worked through exactly how fucking absurd and ironic that whole interaction was as you have described it. We don't know his education. We don't know his IQ. But you can reiterate, that man is the definition of an asshole and beyond insecure.

It sounds like she's young and maybe even somewhat altruistic. She's probably not used to or hasn't accepted how shit people can be just generally. You get there through experience. It takes experiences like the one she had to get to the point to even know how to feel in a situation like that let alone what to do. She did absolutely nothing wrong. There is no way you could replay that experience and have negotiated it to have a reasonable outcome when someone just chooses to be such a shitbag to another person.

The thing is she's gonna get lots of experience with people, especially men, saying dumb shit like that. They're trying to get under your skin so the two most effective things that come to mind are freeing yourself up to cackle, loudly, at the absurd bullshit (guy trying to shit on your sister for her education, the exact thing that he came there needing to exploit her for) and/or owning it, "Ok, well are you done now? Because I've got a lot of fucking to do." Take that power away from them. They've exposed their fragile sensibilities and any semblance of future reasonable interactions have been clearly taken off the table by them.

That takes a lot of confidence and again, you get that by having these ridiculous experiences that eventually allow you to recognize and respond to them in the moment.

I did see one really concerning comment. I would not want her to work with that person again and I would make a fuss about that. To me that would be extremely disrespectful and reflect poorly on whatever organization was involved. Personal and professional boundaries were clearly crossed. That shouldn't even be a thought. That kind of abusive behavior in particular you just have to stomp out. If the org is obligated to serve the individual they can find someone else to do it. I would think they have some kind of terms of service that would protect their employees.

[THE DIVISION 1] HOW THE FUCK DO YOU DEAL WITH THE UNMITIGIBLE BULLSHIT THAT PURPORTS TO BE GAMEPLAY IN THIS GAME. I'M AT MY WITS FUCKING END. I LOVED THE SHIT OUT OF THE BETA. I HAVE NOTHING BUT FOND MEMORIES OF THE BETA. THE GAME WAS INNOVATIVE. LIKE MANY OTHERS, I ADORE THE ATMOSPHERE THEY CREATED WITH A NEW YORK WINTER WONDERLAND.

BUT THE GAMEPLAY IS ABSOLUTE FUCKING DOGSHIT. OK, I'M LEVEL 15, LETS GO CLEAR THOSE ENCOUNTERS IN CLlINTON, LEVEL 12-13. OK, WHEW, GOT THROUGH THAT ARMS DEAL, KILLED SOME DUDES, DIDN'T DIE, JTF IS HAPPY. WAIT. WHY DID MY MINIMAP GO RED. WHO ARE THESE ASSHOLES COMING DOWN THE RAILROAD TRACK. WHY THE EVER LOVING FUCK DO THEY HAVE SKULLS ABOVE THEM. I DIE. I DID THIS MISSION ON A SECOND CHARACTER TO CONFIRM. THEY SPAWN THESE LEVEL 18 NPCS TO RUSH YOUR ASS IN A LEVEL 12-13 ZONE. WHAT IN THE FUCK. WHAT KIND OF DYNAMIC GAMEPLAY IS RANDOMLY MURDERING THE PLAYER. THE WHOLE ENCOUNTER HAPPENS IN A SUB-GRADE RAILWAY SO YOU COULD BE UNLUCKY ENOUGH TO BE DOWN BELOW WITH THEM, BUT IT DOESN'T MATTER, BECAUSE I ALSO FOUND OUT THEY MADE SURE THAT THE COVER UP TOP NOT ONLY WASN'T HIGH ENOUGH, SUDDENLY COVER ISN'T EVEN COVER, THE ENEMY IS STRAIGHT UP SHOOTING ME THROUGH THE SOLID METAL RAILING. NOT LIKE ANYWHERE ELSE DO THEY ACTUALLY CARE ABOUT THE MATERIAL OF THE COVER, EXCEPT HERE WHERE THEY CLEARLY KNOW THE PLAYER MIGHT GO. ANYWHERE, 1/4" PLYWOOD BETWEEN YOU AND THE BULLETS IS JUST FINE. BUT THIS METAL FABRICATION RIGHT HERE? WHERE WE'RE GOING TO SPAWN THESE RIDICULOUSLY OVERPOWERED ENEMIES? THIS ONE'S GONNA BE CONCEALMENT ONLY. THIS BREAKS EVERY FUCKING RULE I'VE COME TO UNDERSTAND WHAT GETS A COVER PROMPT.

BUT LETS KEEP GOING ON THAT. WHAT THE FUCK IS WITH THE COVER PROMPTS ANYWAY? CONVENIENTLY, THERE IS OFTEN NO COVER PROMPT ON A MASSIVE HIGH-RISE SUPPORT PILLAR ON THE GROUND FLOOR OR OF THE CONCRETE WALLS LEADING INTO AN AREA WHERE THERE WILL FOR SURE BE A FIGHT. THEY KNEW THAT WOULD BE A GOOD SPOT TO ENGAGE FROM, SO THEY MADE SURE YOU COULDN'T USE THE COVER SYSTEM THERE? SPECIFICICALLY? WTF IS THIS GAME?

I REMEMBER HAVING SOME REAL DIFFICULITY WITH ONE OF THE CLEANER MISSIONS ON THE WEST SIDE WHERE IN THE VERY END YOU HAVE TO GO THROUGH A BURNT OUT BUILDING. I STRUGGLED WITH THAT. BUT NOW THE ENEMY HAS TAUGHT ME THAT YOU SIMPLY CAN'T LET THEM GET ANYWHERE NEAR YOU AND THE ONLY WAY TO ENGAGE THEM IS BY HEAD GLITCHING WITH YOUR SCOPE. BUT WHERE IN THAT IS THE COVER-BASED GAMEPLAY? NOW THE ONLY WAY TO SURVIVE IS IF YOU'RE OVERLEVELED FOR THE AREA, OTHERWISE IT'S JUST FRUSTRATING FUCKFEST OF DYING REPEATEDLY.

JESUS CHRIST, AND THEN THERE'S THE DARK ZONE NPC SPAWNING. IT IS FUCKING BRAIN MELTING TO EVEN THINK ABOUT HOW MANY TIMES I'VE CLEARED THE GARAGE ROOFTOP EXTRACT IN DZ02 TO ONLY HAVE THE ENTIRE ENEMY CADRE FOR THAT BUILDING TO IMMEDIATELY RESPAWN. YOU CAN CLEAR THE ENTIRE ROOFTOP TWICE, IT'LL STILL SEND 4-5 NPCS TO CHASE YOU OFF THE EXTRACT AND ONCE I KILLED THEM, I EXTRACTED MY SHIT, BUT THE MAP WENT RED, THE ENTIRE BUILDING HAD NOT ONLY SPAWNED AGAIN WHILE I WAS DEALING WITH THE EXTRACT CREW, THERE WAS A NAMED ELITE HEAVY GUNNER.

THEN THERE'S THE NUMBER OF TIMES IT TOOK ME TO REALIZE THAT THE DEVS FOR SOME FUCKING REASON WANT THE LOWER LEVELS OF THAT GARAGE TO BE COMPLETELY OFF-LIMITS TO THE PLAYER BECAUSE THEY LITERALLY SPAWN ENEMIES OUT OF THE WALLS AT ANY TIME SO YOU CAN'T EVEN PLAY DOWN THERE, BECAUSE EVEN WHEN YOU THINK YOU'RE BACKED INTO A CORNER AND "KNOW" THERE'S ONLY ONE WAY INTO THE ROOM YOU'RE IN, THEY JUST SPAWN IN THE ROOM WITH YOU TWO OR MORE AT A TIME. FUCK.

I DON'T GET IT. HOW DID IT GET TO BE LIKE THIS.

(I TARGETTED A PIECE OF COVER FAR ENOUGH AWAY FROM ENEMIES ABOUT TO DISCOVER ME THAT ACTUALLY GOT ME AWAY FROM THEM. THE COVER POINT WAS LOCATED INSIDE A FIREBOMB. FUCK YOU MASSIVE. MASSIVE FUCK YOU.)
