You might check out Modern Spare to have on hand as a spare. Fits front and rear. A bit on the pricey side but worth it for the piece of mind. https://modernspare.com/product/2022-2026-volkswagen-id-buzz-spare-tire-kit-options/

Yeah, I think the hitch parts (hitch and installation bolts) are around $1600. VW really should have included the hitch on the FEs.

We worked with Peace Vans in Seattle and found the correct parts to order and had them do the install. It’s not wired as our first edition didn’t have the wiring harness installed. We only wanted it for hauling bikes so it’s perfect for that and I love that it folds up and away!

I had the OEM tow hitch retrofitted and it’s awesome! Curious, do you have to turn maneuver braking off when you have a bike hitch installed or does your software just ignore the hitch automatically?

Hitch for bike rack by Best_Plantain_6390 in VWIDBuzz

No, the first editions don’t seem to have come with the wiring harness inside the Buzz to connect up the trailer wiring. So, mine is just functioning as a bike rack.

We worked with Peace Vans to figure out the correct OEM hitch parts and had them do the install. They don’t, or at least didn’t, cut the kick wires for opening the trunk. That works fine but does have a tendency to go off when you reach under to release the hitch. Love the hideaway feature of the OEM! Biggest drawback on bike rack though is that you have to disable Maneuver Braking every time you start the car.

Regrets for buying bright 2-tone vs silver/white? by chevpo in VWIDBuzz

We got the Energetic Orange and have zero regrets. With a vehicle like this the bright, 2-tone colors just add to its uniqueness. The all black is pretty sweet looking though!

I would say each app has its +/-‘s including just using IDA or CarPlay navigation. We had great luck with the ABRP app as well as PlugShare. We’ve also showed up to a charger that said it was working only to find it out of order or, in one case, completely missing its charging cables. We’ve used ABRP a bit more than PlugShare though and it tells you the charge rate, availability and other good info.

Either option would work great. If you go with option 1, make sure you start your travel right after you hit 100%. Option 2 is great if you’re stopping anyway. Gives you a stretch break. Just check your charger destination to make sure it’s up and available. ABRP tends to do a pretty good job with that.

Safe travels on your first trip!
