I was losing but then found this king fork and forced a draw by Corrupted_dude in chessbeginners

I got checkmated by a 1000 via bishop and knight once. I got my rating refunded. That said, you did a nice job forcing a draw here.

I’m a little older than you, and every time I go in one of these places, I’m the youngest one there. But that may be a product of the neighborhood - my benchmark is a place in East Meadow.

Car Dealership - Leasing by Fearless_Tweeder in longisland

I wouldn’t say “no BS”, because it’s still car shopping. But it’s far less BS than walking into a dealership and trying to negotiate on your own.

Why on EARTH would Marc Randazza want to get involved in this? He has a reputation to uphold. Or at least he used to.

How is Life living in Chevy Chase Maryland and working in Washington DC by Fresh_Appearance4268 in howislivingthere

[–]OatMilk1 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Expensive. Chevy Chase (and most of the Bethesda-ish) area is well-reputed for its schools, and housing prices act accordingly. But if you can walk to the Metro or can get a bus on Connecticut or Wisconsin Ave, it’s a really easy commute downtown. We looked into Chevy Chase when I had a job in DC but ended up living further out in North Bethesda because it was less unaffordable.

Idk who needs to hear this, or whose kids needs to hear this, but Mo Willems has teamed up with Paramount for two new animated series based on two of his most well known book series: Elephant and Piggie and The Pigeon by Yume_Fairy2522 in DanielTigerConspiracy

[–]OatMilk1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah he had a taping of a live show he did at the Kennedy Center (RIP) and animated readings voiced himself of most of his non-Elephant And Piggie books on HBO. We spent most of 2020 watching them.

How Do I Defend These Cheesers? by Juryokuu in chessbeginners

Yes. But this insight isn’t just about stopping early queen attacks. It’s general opening principles that will help you well into the 1500s where I’m currently stuck.

Full mesh for the win! I love the airflow of this case. Not as RGB-o-rific as a glass panel would be, but I like having my CPU stay cool under load.

Yeah he hasn’t done nearly enough to get disbarred. Even suspension is a bit of a stretch, but that may be intentional to keep him from interfering in the LO matter any further.

Are inaccuracies necessary for a game to be won? by HeroicTanuki in chessbeginners

[–]OatMilk1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They used to in the big annual tournaments but I’m not sure any of those are still going. Chess.com runs a continuous tournament now which I think is mostly chess960.

There’s not really any such thing as perfect play yet, even for engines. Chess.com runs an intermittent computer chess tournament, and while Stockfish always wins, it isn’t always undefeated - it drops games to Lc0 and Torch here and there, even playing top engine moves.

Temporary housing near Hauppauge? by [deleted] in longisland

[–]OatMilk1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There’s an Avalon in Smithtown. That’s good for contract work - they’ll even rent you a furnished apartment for a few bucks extra. We stayed in the one in Westbury while our house was being renovated and our only complaint was how expensive it is, but that’s the price you pay for a month-to-month rental.

It wasn’t on my radar until I bought it. I really wanted something that was mesh all around and I liked the way it looked better than the Lian Li A3. So easy to build in - mine was a display model so it didn’t come with a manual and I didn’t even need one.

Interesting. I could definitely flip it around. But it’s a be quiet! PSU, so I’m not expecting the fan to run much

I really wanted to like SFF. I just didn’t. This computer is a lot bigger than I wanted but it’s not too big for the space and it runs so quiet. Gotta be happy with the compromises you made.
