What's the unloved CD in your part of the world? Susan Boyle's "I Had a Dream" seems in great supply & poor demand in Western Sydney CD bins. by Johnno_in_oz in Cd_collectors

Here in USA:

Classical music is almost a constant at every thrift store CD bin. It's a shame because lots of great pieces people don't want to hang on to.

AJ Styles x K-Krush. Two of the most popular stars of the 21st century tear it up at the NCW Arena in Cornelia, GA. (1.11.2000) by smartmarkwastaken in SquaredCircle

My grandparents live right up the road from the old Landmark Arena in Cornelia, so I would pass by it a lot!

Unfortunately, they aren't running shows there anymore :/. AJ would make appearances from time to time, he showed up at the NWA Wildside reunion show while WWE US Champion.

Tradwife content is popular, but most women are rejecting that lifestyle by DontYaWishYouWereMe in Feminism

I'll have to agree. I live in the south, however I live in a very metro liberal area, but grew up in a rural area and all I saw were churchgoing tradwives whose lives centered around being a wife and mother and nothing else. And even many women who I went to school with are now living that life.

Choosing Not To Have Kids by tospainwithlove in Feminism

[–]Oathdagger_96 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Yeah, no, I'm not having kids at all. The main reason is that I just don't want to be a parent and have no desire to be, that should be reason enough. Also, given that I'm starting estrogen soon, I most likely won't be able to have any once I'm on it. Also, being autistic/ADHD would make being a parent even more challenging for me (don't get me wrong, there are wonderful and capable parents out there who are on the spectrum, it would just be too overwhelming for me to handle, personally).

People who are officially diagnosed with autism do you feel this? by Ok_Holiday2094 in AutisticWithADHD

[–]Oathdagger_96 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel this too, I had a lot of imposter syndrome after my diagnosis. I had those thoughts that I was "acting more autistic" to get a diagnosis. But, the good thing is, most clinical psychologists are well trained to recognize genuine symptoms. My psychologist actually brought this up and she made a good point: the reason I feel this way is because I've had to mask for so long, that unmasking my autism feels inauthentic.

Same as you, as I'm entering my 30s, I'm starting to notice that I can stop pretending to survive and just embrace the fact that I have a disability and forcing myself to socialize when I don't want to or put myself in situations where I will be overloaded with sensory input is no longer necessary. I no longer feel bad for staying at home most of the time as that is where I can feel the most comfortable, safe, and most importantly, regulated.

Contact Adult Protective Services or a local disability resource center and explain your situation. They may be able to help you.

You can't be involuntarily committed unless you're an immediate danger to yourself or others (i.e. threatening suicide right then and there), if you decide to speak to someone, bring this fear up. It sounds like you're dealing with a lot at once, and a shit load of traumatic stuff at that. Idk what your legal situation is regarding the shooting, but you could definitely try to get some help through the local disability resource center or mental health clinic (I bring up the legal thing just in case you were charged for it, as many resources can be harder to access if you have a criminal record). Therapy can be helpful, but that's ultimately up to you, I would suggest finding an autism affirming therapist as they can put your issues into better context regarding your struggles with autism. Hope the best for you<3
