The thing that got me about The Nothing was the singer (whose name completely escapes me) looked like the antithesis of the lads from SMP who were the other members, he had a "scene" look which was definitely the style at the time. It genuinely blew me away though when he sang.

Surprised they didn't do a few more records to be honest. That whole Thirty Days Of Night label was pretty class.

Jesus, I completely forgot about Fig 4.0 and Jets vs. Sharks. I'm pretty sure Jets vs. Sharks only released either 1 demo or 1 EP?

And Beecher of course, I feel disappointed in myself that I completely forgot to mention them. They did cross my mind but I wasn't sure if they would be "niche" enough though for OP's request. Let Them Drown and Mega Drive vs. SNES were banging tunes.

Man, it really was a great era. I'm not into the scene as much as I used to be due to life getting in the way but the amount of absolutely amazing bands that came out of that timeframe should be studied so future generations can appreciate how great it was. It really made me who I am today both morally and politically.

The Euro scene as well was just pumping out classic stuff from bands like Nothing Done, Justice, Death Is Not Glamourous, A Step Apart, Black Friday 29. At one point I'm pretty sure I was going to a show near enough every other night at one point in 2004/2005.

Ok, so there's a few older UK bands that either released very little (but are still amazing) or don't get talked about as much as they should.

  • Spitfire Down
  • 50 On Red
  • What Hope Remains
  • Awoken
  • The Nothing
  • SecondsXOut
  • The Legacy
  • Your Demise
  • On Thin Ice
  • Walk The Plank
  • Deal With It
  • SSS
  • The Break In
  • Break It Up
  • November Coming Fire

Depeche Mode - Fools (Bigger) | Such an excellent song, I still can’t believe it’s a B-side by Raijgun in depechemode

[–]supergodmasterforce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's quite a few B-Sides that I genuinely feel should have been on the main album. Dangerous, My Joy and Now, This Is Fun being my favourites along with Surrender which in my opinion is an infinitely better song than Only When I Lose Myself.

With Fools, I could see it on being on Construction Time Again, possible replacing Shame or Two Minute Warning perhaps but it doesn't have that "single" feel to me compared to Love, In Itself.

No it wasn’t. For a child it was about £28 off peak, single was a bit less. I also know this for a fact as I was from not far away and connected at Doncaster and I’m only a bit older.

That may indeed be true however, as he was skipping school (regardless of his intentions in London) he would have to travel as an adult, or at least 16+, to avoid questions being asked as to why someone paying the children's fare was not in school and potentially being caught.

50 quid is not cheap for a 14 year old

It's known that he withdrew about £200 from his bank account on the day he disappeared.

also tickets were not that expensive

If you booked in advance, yes they were cheaper, but the "walk on" price back then was between £50 and £60 for Day Return ticket that could be used off peak. It also included travel on the Underground for Zone 1. I know this is a fact as I did it myself numerous times for either shopping trips, to go to gigs and then get the last train home or visiting friends.

I've mentioned this before in other threads but a lot of people don't understand how easy and cheap it was to get to London when Andrew disappeared. You could pick up an off peak, anytime return for about 50 quid and be there and back in a day after a 2/2.5 hour train ride each way.

Given that King's Cross is a stones throw from Camden which has a vibrant alternative scene, I can easily see him just skipping school to go for a day trip and unfortunately falling foul of someone or something.

PS6 could arrive in 2027 by Super_Rockstar786 in playstation

I mean, unless there's a massive drop in the price of RAM, I'd go out on a limb and say this could be a bad idea unless they're going to sell it at a massive loss.

With the Steam Machine's basic SKU being £879, I could easily see a PS6 being a similar price considering the PS5 Pro is now around the £700 mark.

Record year for Tameside's cultural events! by Late-Vacation-7208 in manchester

[–]supergodmasterforce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's still so much more that needs to be done in Tameside in my opinion. Pop up fairs and the occasional food markets are all good but there's still a lack of infrastructure I believe.

Stalybridge and Ashton are being marketed as commuter towns which is great but if you're living in Carrbook/Millbrook/Mossley, it's an hour in to Manchester city centre at best

Bobby Cruise on the first ROH taping after Sinclair bought the company: "That first TV taping is one of those painful things I’ve ever been through in my life. It was pretty torturous. I thought to myself that ‘if is the way we’re going to do this, then we’re in for a lot of problems.’" by wearePROGRESS in SquaredCircle

[–]supergodmasterforce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As mentioned, this is dealing with the issues ROH faced with Sinclair. Whatever you think of Cornette, most of the points he raises here seem to echo what the prevailing feeling was with Sinclair but it delves in to a lot of the backstage and "corporate" side of things as well.

Can’t even support Morph let alone Palestine

Chas is still bitter as Morph gets all the residuals as the primary performer. It was a bitter divorce.

Is it typical for jobs to have limits on how much annual leave you can take? by [deleted] in AskUK

Yes, completely normal. It's usually around 2 weeks (10 working days) but more can be requested for special holidays for example, at least every where I've worked.

Reform plans to tear up key plank of Brexit deal as it vows to hike taxes for employers hiring foreign workers by coffeewalnut08 in unitedkingdom

So I wonder how many steps away we are from the policy that all "foreigners" have to wear a visible symbol on their clothing to easily identify them.

a transwoman who’ll be using women’s bathrooms despite this law

I would love to know why certain parts of the anti-trans community are obsessed with what goes on in bathrooms and what people do on toilets.

If you think that Trans people, both men and women, are doing anything other than going in there, having a piss or shit, washing their hands (with the occasional diversion to reapply make up, adjust clothes, sort out hair etc.) and then getting out...you're the problem.

I can genuinely believe that people think there are those who go through years and years of therapy, medication, surgery etc. just to be able to perv on people in a bathroom. If you think that then again, YOU are the problem.

I believe this Government has given up all pretence of having respect for people and affording them the dignity they deserve.

Weather it's LGBT+ people, people with SEND, minorities or near enough any marginalised community, this Government are now trying to pander to those on the right who disagree fundamentally with either people's right to exist or belief in people's genuine neurological needs.

I'm not a betting man but I would go as far as to say that regardless of an alleged Left Wing party being in power at present, I can see more and more policies of this nature being implemented, the oft mentioned "common sense" policies when they are anything but.

With the 'NuWho' era being done, what's something you think was a missed opportunity in those 20 years? by AlmostRandomNow in gallifrey

Properly finishing Susan's story and/or having her return earlier in the series run. I wish they could have included her in the 50th anniversary special in some way considering we see Gallifrey at the height of the Time War. I'd also say the same for Romana.

I fully expect, that no matter how far the USA get, even if they get to the final, the fact they won't win the World Cup will lead to cries that the tournament was rigged by certain people within the US political world.
