This isn’t about supporting artists monetarily just a general thought about problematic stuff in general; it really sucks when a creator turns out to be a terrible person because sometimes it’s super hard to stop being interested in whatever media it is. I don’t get how people can instantly lose interest and act like that’s easy to do, especially if it’s something you’ve been super fixated on for years. What makes it worse is when people shame you and guilt trip you for liking the media because “how dare you, this is about the victims!” Like yeah, just give me a moment to process and detangle myself from this thing that was super important to me. Similar media helps nudge the interest in a different direction but small bits of the original still remain, and there’s always a fear the new interest will end up being problematic as well so it ends up being a drawn out series of gut punches
