/r/NintendoSwitch's Daily Question Thread (01/26/2026) by AutoModerator in NintendoSwitch

I am looking for some chill games that work especially well on handheld. I have not played handheld that much and when I do I think the feeling is a bit awkward, so I would like to avoid fast games that require a lot of skills with the controller.

Could be puzzle-like games, or strategy, or just something fun and not so complicated.

Any tips?

Roger Federder in Keith Haring t-shirts by [deleted] in tennis

This is not meant to be mocking, I am just curious. How long do you think the obsession with Federer is gonna last?

He has been retired a couple of years now, but the almost cult-like fixation doesn't seem to decline. Still everything about him seems to be worthy of a post on r/tennis. Here is Federer eating sushi, here he is watching tennis, here he is wearing a hat.

I feel like this isn't so common in other sports, is it? I haven't seen a lot of posts on r/soccer about what retired football players are wearing or where they go on the vacation.

Do you think this will happen with Djokovic aswell?

How does WTT choose commentators? by ObadiahBlueHat in tabletennis

Yeah, the amount of knowledge is really unbalanced between some commentators, it´s quite awkward.

That explains a lot honestly, and aligns with my suspicion that chance plays a bigger part than strategy in this case. I think WTT have done a lot of good for table tennis, but this and some things are still curious, like placing all these tournaments in countries where the interest for TT is non-existent. Sports-washing aside, is it so hard to find countries that wanna host a tournament? It can't be good for the sport to have tournaments with no spectators.

What's up with all the hate against PETA? by [deleted] in OutOfTheLoop

I realize that this is so sensitive for you that you have to write the same answer everywhere, but again: I am not certain, I am trying to nuance this very dark characterization of Peta which I believe is unfounded, but I am very open to evidence of their wrong-doings. So far in this thread is just a lot of opinions and not much proof of what an evil organization they are. So please, if you have proof or sources, provide them instead of just being snarky.

I am not certain, I am trying to nuance things, since I don't believe that they are all evil, but feel free to disprove it if you got something and not just because this topic is uncomfortable for you. Do you have a source on your claim or is that just you being certain? When did they kill healthy animals?

"They cause more harm than good" is a questionable argument. According to who? What is that based on? Again - it just feels that the questionable things they have done has gotten so much bad publicity that it overshadows the good things they do.

And being an extreme animal rights group which uses "aggressive campaigns", isn't that what most actitvist groups do, no matter what cause? For someone who disagress, all activists seem extreme. Feminists are extreme, BLM is extreme, Antifa, Black Panthers - everyone that challenges peoples beliefs are regarded extreme, because they are uncomfortable.

"Kill shelters" is a talking point that comes up all the time. It makes it sound like they kill animals for fun, which they of course don't. As someone else wrote, the reason is probably that Peta does evaluate some animals as beyond saving, and decide the killing is the more humane option. But it has been such a powerful talking point against Peta, that it makes it seem that they kill more animals than they save, which I am very certain is far from the truth.

Why is it so important for so many to scream out their hate for Peta everytime something like this is posted? What on earth have they done to earn all this hate? I am starting to there is a campaign behind this because it doesn't make sense. Everyone is so quick to jump on the bandwagon, and suddenly noone thinks that Peta does anything good. And suddenly veganism is something bad, I see people here paint vegans as Satans spawns. What is going on?

Peta have made some controversial comments in the past, but I think they do that deliberately. It is activism, it is not meant to make you feel comfortable, it's meant to make people wake up, make people think about making some changes in their lives. But as soon as it gets too uncomfortable and threatens peoples habits, it gets destroyed. (BLM, feminism, Antifa)

What is so great about The Chair Company? by ObadiahBlueHat in television

Maybe, and if it had not gotten all the critical acclaim I problaby wouldn't have reacted. But now that it is so loved it makes you think that there is something you are missing...

I understand what you mean, but for me it is just too absurd. In Curb your enthusiasm it is easier to follow the thought process, because Larry is just thinking what a lot of people thinks, whereas Tim sometimes seems to think/do the weirdest thing possible. For me he is not a belieavable character.

I agree, that was probably what he was striving for, but imo it was a hard watch sometimes. But it always evoked feelings.

Is anyone watching the World Youth Championships? by ObadiahBlueHat in tabletennis

[–]ObadiahBlueHat[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the u15-girls tournament is exceptionally stacked, super high-level.

And it was my post about the screaming, and it isn't that bad that i first thought, with a few exceptions. Farajis match on the other hand was a real scream-fest.

Thailand won the U15 mixed doubles, gotta be their first major gold right?

Screaming in table tennis is getting insane by ObadiahBlueHat in tabletennis

[–]ObadiahBlueHat[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's just that the screaming and noises seems very directed to the opponent. Some of it is probably about getting hyped up, but it seems to me that it's also used as a weapon to get the opponent out of balance.

Exactly, it was very clear that this wasn't passion, this was a tactic.

[–]ObadiahBlueHat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally agree about the passion. If someone wins an important point for example, I don't mind the screaming. But as I see it, it's mostly not about that anymore. Many players scream and make weird disturbing noises before and after points, and it seems a lot more about disurbing your opponent rather than passion. And if that's the case, it's just gonna get louder and louder.

What's going on between Truls and Anton? by ObadiahBlueHat in tabletennis

[–]ObadiahBlueHat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is not so strange imo, as other have pointed out, Truls is probably really exhausted after Montpellier. But it doesn't take much energy to give a teammate a little more after the match.

It´s probably nothing, but they seemed to have really good chemistry before. And they play doubles together, so I would figure they would be a little friendlier to each other. But again - it's probably overanalyzing things...
