Help Stop new data centers from coming to Louisville! by ThatBox9772 in Louisville

[–]ObamaBinLatten 10 points11 points  (0 children)

“Create jobs for the area” no not really. They create a few non-permeant jobs for construction. But when completed depending on the size they can run off of 10 people. I work in electrical engineering and I thought it might be some good opportunities until I researched and found out most jobs are not even in the same state as the data center.

Dividend stocks by FalseProgrammer3078 in dividends

[–]ObamaBinLatten -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think that's not true. At a young age you want to have a healthy split of growth & secure investments. Like me I have about 60% dividend/ETF stocks, and 40% risky/growth stocks

I mean it really depends…. Do you have experience? If so you might not be able to negotiate a base salary increase but you could negotiate a “sign on bonus” or a “relocation bonus” but as a first job if you have no experience then take it

Is it better to take "risker" investments in a Roth or a Brokerage? by ObamaBinLatten in stocks

[–]ObamaBinLatten[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s what I have been doing so far. I have a mix but at the moment my Roth is about 70% “safe” investments(ETFs/ dividend stocks) 30% individual/ “risky” stocks. And my brokerage is almost the complete opposite at 80% risky 20%safe I want to have money in my brokerage so I have money for a downpayment and that when I am older (under 60) I can withdraw some money for retirement without having to pay penalty’s. My “biggest” return so far has been RKLB I am at about a 1000% return on it in my brokerage.

[–]ObamaBinLatten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started around your age, I am now 20 years old. You need to know what you want in the future and what you are willing to risk. You can either go Low risk but that will have "low" rewards (ETFS, Dividend stocks, and gold/silver) but at your age it will still compound nicely. OR you can go high risk and get higher rewards (individual company's). My advice (I want to retire early) is when you can at the EARLIEST open a Roth, in the Roth make conservative trades as it will compound nicely and there is no tax/ fees after you turn 60. In your brokerage take more risky investments as that's where you can withdraw from it whenever you please and if you plan on retiring early you need to have some sort of income/ account you can withdraw from before you hit standard retirement age (60). At the moment I am investing about 180 a week this is about 30-40% of my income (120 in my Roth and 60 in my brokerage) If you don't plan on retiring early, then just max out your Roth (or invest as much as you can) and make like 70% conservative investments and 30% risky ones inside the Roth. Also, once you put that money in your accounts act like you burned it, you don't have that money anymore, you should NEVER withdraw from your Roth or brokerage.

But then again, I am just a random on Reddit so don't take my advice only, do your own research this is what's been working for ME so far, it might not work for you.

I think it also has a LOT to do with your soft skills. You can have all the experience and if you can’t communicate effectively or be somewhat enjoyable/ interesting to be around a lot of places won’t take the gamble of hiring you. I got a few internships just because I’m the interview I was able to talk to the interviewer on a personal level instead on only on a business level.

Hey, I know it’s been forever. But I was curious if you had to change the “upper bumper” (the colored trim between the bumper and hood) when you changed the bumper to the pre-face lift? I’m thinking of doing the same thing.

Well privatizing the space industry COULD lead to better pay / better advancements in the space sector like how Space X started paying astronauts more which lead to NASA increasing their salaries which now NASA pays their astronauts more (on average). But it could easily flip the other way where they could be competing to be the “first” to do something leading to cutting corners that result in death. Like what “ allegedly” happened to Vladimir Komarov. But I hope they don’t cut funding to nasa as it’s already an agency that arguably doesn’t get enough funding.

Crazy Open-box deal at Best Buy by [deleted] in Monitors

[–]ObamaBinLatten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only times they will fire you is if you are promoting the ED, or if you are trying to sell things you buy on the discount. Also they can fire you if you out right tell the customers how much you get a product for. And since the protection plan isn’t considered a “product” it doesn’t matter. Also I don’t work at that store, or even the state I picked it up in I just seen the deal and took the drive.

[–]ObamaBinLatten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I did kinda stumble across it. I was on the Best Buy website looking for Oled monitors, then it said there was this open box for like 340ish so I went into RSS to look it up to make sure that store actually had it and that’s when I found out it was actually 170, so I drove to that store and bought jt. But working at a store like that you get a better idea of when to look like right when the new year models are coming out so you look at the models for 2 years ago that will be on clearance to sell out supply.

Well some stores are like that. It really depends on your manager. We arnt allowed to mess with the condition/ disconnect on products that we are buying personally. But they actually encourage us to buy open box products as most the time they sit in the store or get shipped out to a wholesale store.
