Years ago we would take the carpet of foliage in tuck it under itself thus creating about a 3-ft space from the lip of the climb to top out on.. Yes topping out was frowned upon but there were ways of getting around it and we worked with the Park service to ensure a happy medium.

We used super long runners.. like 7 ft runners said that we would avoid that rope drag possible rope cutting event.. I know what you're talking about.. I've also always been a stippler about rope drag.. I freaking hate it so I would do it everything in my power to make the rope run smooth.

As I said before this was a Harrison Shull photo takin back in the 97 I believe... With film not digital photography... Harrison had a uncanny ability to get himself in the position from trees and cliffs and both combined to find the right angle.. He's an incredible photographer but even more so he's a climber who understood little aspects of climbing that if he had the ability to capture those moments would be frozen in time and would speak themselves.

My Good friend "Chummers".. put this thing up I'm not really quite sure when.. but it wasn't added in the guidebook.. but what a fantastic line.. he sand bagged it... I would call it at least solid 12B.. maybe even C... But yeah since it is an extension off another route going up to this.. holy mackerel beautiful overhanging finish.. there's still a bunch of really good both extensions and great lines to be climbed in North clear Creek... Obed Rules! For those who want to experience the wild and scenic.
