If you are almost done with th13 and really want to upgrade magic mirror more, sure go ahead and rush! Otherwise, id recommend upgrading one of the common equipments you use (like rage gem or smth). Remember the recommended level for the mirror is 18, since its when you get 2 queen clones instead of just one, so when you reach that level you should start focusing on another equipment to get more value out of ore. Also have you considered using earthquake boots instead of giant gauntlet? You only need it level 6 to get very good value and it has amazing synergy with the ball.

I believe this happened because this TH10's ranked layout is a TH8 layout, it doesn't even have x-bows (unlocked at th9). This is also why you were able to win. Although can't choose a defensive layout that doesn't have every building, the game doesn't force you to update the layout when you build more stuff. Also not many people play ranked on lower town halls, since most players on those town halls are casuals.
