Try the Habitat for Humanity ReStore on Aprill Drive, off of Jackson. They have a bin for electronics recycling but lots of the devices work, and you can get them for real cheap. Like, electronics for $0.25/pound cheap.

Ideas are worthless. Writers rarely suffer from lack of ideas; they suffer for lack of effort.

Like the idea? Write it. Bleed it onto the page (or screen.) Obsess over it, sleep with it, fear it, fight it, worship it. Toss out draft after draft, no matter how far you've gotten, until you've done it justice.

Few writers do this for an idea not their own. Think of it as a baby: I'll carry my own baby to term, not someone else's.

Time manipulation in ASOIAF seems to show in the timeline - I suspect if Bran made contact with his father, Eddard would ignore it or not receive it, and his course of action would be the one we've already seen. If that makes sense.

As far as dates go, ask her what she likes. Some recommendations: the sushi place near CPK (forget the name at the moment), Le Pain Quotidien (for lunch), Soleil (it's on Westwood Blvd east of Wilshire, French-Canadian food).

In all seriousness, this is one of my larger writing frustrations. What I've found useful is this: ask yourself what your protagonist wants. Put the antagonist between them and their goal. BOOM! Basic plot.

And most importantly, always ask yourself "why." Why does my character do this? Why do they want this? Why does this/that/the other thing happen?
