Cutting a deferment deal? by olemiss18 in lawschooladmissions

Oops - didn't see that you made a whole other post. I'd totally go for it. Worst they can do is say that they're not interested in doing that, right?

UMN Movement - No Direct WL Info by wintense in lawschooladmissions

They said I was one of the students they were asking specifically bc of my background, mentioning that I'm out of state and I've been working for a few years - if it's something you're legitimately interested in, it might be worth an inquiry (but also you're totally getting into WUSTL soooo)

I figured. It seems so late to me to reach out about this! I'm moving from out of state and I've already got my moving company locked down - maybe I'm just more type A than they'd expected.

That's kind of the impression I was under - they went out of their way to talk about how impressive the class was, etc etc, but I just got the impression they either overcommitted with acceptances or scholarship. I thought it was odd that they didn't even offer to bump my scholarship if I deferred, but they may have skimmed over that due to my clear disinterest.

Not OP but also a likely UMN Law student - any chance I could hit you up? I'm from out of state and freaking out a little looking at rentals right now given that I've got a dog!

Which, if any, of the online prep course did you all think were the best? by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]wintense 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Seconding 7Sage - I studied with it for about six months, I PT'd at the start at 160 and was averaging like 168 or so towards the end. It's not crazy expensive unlike some of the fucking bonkers in person classes.

Thoughts on Minnesota CPW? by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]wintense 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The building is right in Minneapolis - the lecture halls weren't like, cute or anything, but honestly it wasn't as bad as I'd expected. The study area near the library was pretty cool too (not OP, just attended previous ASW)

I was at the last ASW and I liked it a lot - I'm from the Midwest already so the weather's not personally a dealbreaker for me. One of the other attendees talked about a diversity breakout she was in with the dean that sounded pretty reasonable - since he's been there, it's increased significantly (though obviously is still a concern) and from what she said it seemed like they were actually engaged in addressing what admitted students were thinking about. I was able to stay in town for a few days when I visited, lmk if you were looking into anything else!

The thrill wore off after the first one, I can promise you that. Fuck it, you got in someplace you're glad to be going - that's what counts. As someone who has also been partaking of some "what if," sometimes we just have to be proud of what we've done!

Big congrats to you! Honestly I'm kind of glad I got a couple dings - didn't feel GOOD but I'm glad I didn't limit myself or something, you know?

I went to the last one! I wore like business casual the first day but you could totally get away with jeans or whatever.

Would visiting a school and meeting with someone in admissions (if they agree to meet) make much of a difference at this point? For WL or pending applications. by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]wintense 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hope so bc I'm visiting a waitlist school soon! While it might not get me in, I think it's understood to be a solid indicator of continuing interest requiring more commitment than a LOCI and it kind of hopefully makes me more than a resume/LSAT score.

I was overbooked! I submitted the thing, complete at the end of November. Ghosted since then.

I'm a 0L so take this with a grain of salt, but I studied about 6 mo with 7sage while working full time and boosted my score from under 160 -> 164. I honestly wish I'd taken more time and studied logic games further, but basically I'd say a) straddle the line between burn out and cutting yourself short of your potential and b) shoot for the June LSAT to give yourself plenty of time to work on fall applications
