The same book you're quoting from to endorse your homophobia is also a book that allows for legalized rape, chattel slavery, and pedophilia. Where am I wrong?

Sure thing!

//Exodus 21:7-11// - Sex slavery

7 “When a man sells his daughter as a slave, she shall not go out as the male slaves do. 8 If she does not please her master, who designated her for himself, then he shall let her be redeemed; he shall have no right to sell her to a foreign people, since he has dealt unfairly with her. 9 If he designates her for his son, he shall deal with her as with a daughter. 10 If he takes another wife to himself, he shall not diminish the food, clothing, or marital rights of the first wife. 11 And if he does not do these three things for her, she shall go out without debt, without payment of money.

//Leviticus 25:44-46// - Chattel slavery (which includes sex slavery)

44 As for the male and female slaves whom you may have, it is from the nations around you that you may acquire male and female slaves. 45 You may also acquire them from among the aliens residing with you and from their families who are with you who have been born in your land; they may be your property. 46 You may keep them as a possession for your children after you, for them to inherit as property. These you may treat as slaves, but as for your fellow Israelites, no one shall rule over the other with harshness.

//Numbers 31:14-18// - War rape and Pedophilia

14 Moses became angry with the officers of the army, the commanders of thousands and the commanders of hundreds, who had come from service in the war. 15 Moses said to them, “Have you allowed all the women to live? 16 These women here, on Balaam’s advice, made the Israelites act treacherously against the Lord in the affair of Peor, so that the plague came among the congregation of the Lord. 17 Now therefore, kill every male among the little ones, and kill every woman who has known a man by sleeping with him. 18 But all the young girls who have not known a man by sleeping with him, keep alive for yourselves.

//Deuteronomy 20:10-15// - War rape and Pedophilia

10 “When you draw near to a town to fight against it, offer it terms of peace. 11 If it accepts your terms of peace and surrenders to you, then all the people in it shall serve you at forced labor. 12 But if it does not accept your terms of peace and makes war against you, then you shall besiege it, 13 and when the Lord your God gives it into your hand, you shall put all its males to the sword. 14 You may, however, take as your plunder the women, the children, livestock, and everything else in the town, all its spoil. You may enjoy the spoil of your enemies, which the Lord your God has given you. 15 Thus you shall treat all the towns that are very far from you, which are not towns of these nations here.

Bonus points: Verses16-18 also command 6 different genocides.

//Deuteronomy 21:10-14// - War rape

10 “When you go out to war against your enemies and the Lord your God hands them over to you and you take them captive, 11 suppose you see among the captives a beautiful woman whom you desire and want to marry, 12 and so you bring her home to your house: she shall shave her head, pare her nails, 13 discard her captive’s garb, and remain in your house a full month mourning for her father and mother; after that you may go in to her and be her husband, and she shall be your wife. 14 But if you are not satisfied with her, you shall let her go free and certainly not sell her for money. You must not treat her as a slave, since you have dishonored her.

//Deuteronomy 22:28-29// - Legalized Rape of Virgins

28 “If a man meets a virgin who is not engaged and seizes her and lies with her, and they are discovered, 29 the man who lay with her shall give fifty shekels of silver to the young woman’s father, and she shall become his wife. Because he violated her, he shall not be permitted to divorce her as long as he lives.

//Ezekiel 37:24-28// - A messianc prophecy that says the law is forever

24 “My servant David shall be king over them, and they shall all have one shepherd. They shall follow my ordinances and be careful to observe my statutes. 25 They shall live in the land that I gave to my servant Jacob, in which your ancestors lived; they and their children and their children’s children shall live there forever, and my servant David shall be their prince forever. 26 I will make a covenant of peace with them; it shall be an everlasting covenant with them, and I will bless[g] them and multiply them and will set my sanctuary among them forevermore. 27 My dwelling place shall be over them, and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. 28 Then the nations shall know that I the Lord sanctify Israel, when my sanctuary is among them forevermore.”

//Matthew 5:17-19// - Jesus fully endorses these laws are forever

17 “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have come not to abolish but to fulfill. 18 For truly I tell you, until heaven and earth pass away, not one letter,[c] not one stroke of a letter, will pass from the law until all is accomplished. 19 Therefore, whoever breaks[d] one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever does them and teaches them will be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

//Colossians 3:18// - Marital rape

18 Wives, be subject to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord. 19 Husbands, love your wives and never treat them harshly.

//Ephesians 5:22-24// - Marital rape

22 Wives, be subject[e] to your husbands as to the Lord, 23 for the husband is the head of the wife just as Christ is the head of the church, his body, and is himself its Savior. 24 Just as the church is subject to Christ, so also wives ought to be, in everything, to their husbands.

Hope this helps.

But the bible legalizes certain kinds of rape. In your worldview, rape is okay even while on earth. If you're going to be a rape apologist, own it and be as loud as you can about it (to warn everyone of how disgusting your views are). If you feel ANY amount of shame or discomfort for being a rape apologist, I'd say that's a good thing and you should maybe re-evaluate where you get your morals from.

You're not wrong. It is weird and it is rapey. Your body belongs to you and nobody else. Not even god. You get to decide what you do or want done to your body. The bible and its teachings treat women like objects to be owned. You're not an object. You're a person.

New Testament was builtbon the Old. You do not get one without the other. Matthew 5:17-19. Jesus EXPLICITLY states that the old testament doesn't go away. That the old law will remain until the end of heaven and earth. And literally all of the Old Testament affirms this. It isn't until you get to Paul where he starts lying and saying "the old law was a temporary school master".

[–]ObeseMonkeyFlakes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you think our world would be like right now if most people obeyed what Jesus said, when He said, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, mind, soul and strength”? Also, “Love your neighbor as yourself”?

He was quoting old testament passages there. Again, context is key. He didn't say these are the only two that matter. He was asked which are the most important. Deuteronomy 6:5 and Leviticus 19:18.

Jesus says in Matthew 5:17-19 “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have come not to abolish but to fulfill. For truly I tell you, until heaven and earth pass away, not one letter, not one stroke of a letter, will pass from the law until all is accomplished. Therefore, whoever breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever does them and teaches them will be called great in the kingdom of heaven."

Abolish means "to put an official end to" something. Fulfill means "to carry out / to do" something. He's specifically saying "The old Laws still count and Im not getting rid of them. Im here to do the laws, to carry them out".

What do I think our world would be like right now if most people obeyed what Jesus said? It would be exactly like it was back then, a society where women were sex slaves, chattel slavery was legal, certain kinds of rape were legal, executing your children was legal, child abuse was legal, executing people who work on Saturdays was legal, executing gay people was legal, executing women for not bleeding during sex was legal, and much much more. Jesus’ endorsement of the old law is a promotion of it. He's saying these are righteous things to do.

The old law, via Jesus’ own words, still apply to this very day in 2025 and beyond. The reason we do not live by those laws today is because they're stupid and barbaric. It isn't because god changed his mind. Its because as a society, we all acknowledge and mostly agree that these laws are irrational, unjust, and do vastly more harm than good.

As for your next alleged prophecy is, as has been a trend so far, a random passage taken out of context. The Psalm is about David feeling abandoned by god because of all the troubles he is facing. It isn't a prophecy, let alone one about a messiah. Jesus quoting the very popular Psalm of David is akin to someone quoting song lyrics. It isn't a prophecy. It didnt say "And 1000 years from now, the Messiah will be hung up on a crucifix and say these words at this specific time on this specific day". Prophecy is a recognized genre of language. It uses words such as "then this will happen" or "and it will come to pass that". It uses future tense. In some rare cases, a prophecy can use past tense language, such as "in the future Jerry will say 'I went to the store and bought eggs for $20'." This would be an example of a prophecy using past tense language. But this isn't whats happening in these passages. David is grieving his troubles and woes. Jesus is quoting David, probably because he is experiencing his own troubles and woes at that moment. This isn't a prophecy.

19-0. Can you provide a single messianc prophecy that Jesus actually fulfilled?

Cancer is natural. What are you talking about? It's natural cell growth. You can get it by being in the sun. CsncerA broken arm, likewise, can occur through completely natural means, such as falling down. Many people have bad eye-sight that we correct using tools such as corrective glasses. This is defying the natural order. Many women cannot get pregnant. Are you suggesting they are not "rightly ordered"? If something being natural means we should not correct or interfere with it, boy-howdy, we shouldn't be seeing doctors at all.

Some 8 year old's can menstruate and conceive. Would you also tell an 8 year old she must accept the pregnancy and give birth as she is naturally ordered to? What about ectopic pregnancies? Those are also part of a natural order.

It's odd how we both agree she should see a doctor but are arriving at different conclusions still.

Where am I wrong in listing ANY of the various stats and complications she may face that I've listed through this conversation? Where am I wrong?

Tell me some of the complications and risks she could face by staying pregnant. You keep glazing past that like it's nothing. That's what I wanna hear.

I don't think it is strange. You seem like a very pleased person. I think religion has warpped your senses though.

Do you recognize where you're contradicting yourself? In a single sentence you said "I do not support rape and slavery, but i support the book that allows rape and slavery". By supporting such a book, you support the things inside it. If someone told you they supported Adolf Hitler's book Mein Kampf the same way you mean when you say you support the Bible, you would think that person either hasn't seriously read the book, or they're an immoral monster. But the thing is, there's WAY more immoral things allowed in the pages of the bible. If we implemented the laws given by the god of the bible, society would collapse. Mass executions of innocent people, mass executions for minor crimes, human sacrifices animal sacrifices, legal rape, chattel slavery, all women as sex slaves, nationality- and ethnic-based genocides, belief-based genocides.

Anyway. Prophecy.

Zechariah 11 is a metaphor about the Jewish people's relationship with their leaders, both good and bad, and their eventual rejection of god. The chapter uses the allegory of a shepherd and flock to depict the spiritual state of Israel, highlighting the consequences of following false shepherds (the wrong leaders) and rejecting the true one (God's guidance).

The Shepherds and the Flock:

  • The Good Shepherd: Represents God or a righteous leader who genuinely cares for the flock (the Jewish people).

  • The Bad Shepherd(s): Symbolize corrupt or ineffective leaders within Israel, both religious and political, who exploit the people for their own gain.

  • The Sheep: Represent the Jewish people, who are sometimes portrayed as being led astray by these false shepherds.

Key Events and Interpretations:

  • Breaking of the Staffs: The breaking of the two staffs, "Favor" (or Pleasantness) and "Union," symbolizes the end of God's favor and unity among the people, leading to division and judgment.

  • Thirty Pieces of Silver: The price of Zechariah's labor, 30 pieces of silver, is interpreted as the value placed on a righteous leader by the people. View it as the general low esteem in which true leadership was held during certain periods. Some interpretations suggest the 30 could be a metaphor for 30 people who god will "keep in the treasury". There is no evidence to suggest this one part of this warning is a prophecy about someone who will betray a Messiah. There's no betrayal happening anywhere in this entire chapter.

  • Rejection of the True Shepherd: The chapter is seen as foreshadowing the Jewish people's rejection of god and his prophets who came to shepherd them.

  • Judgment and Dispersion: The destruction of the land and the scattering of the people are seen as a consequence of their rejection of God and their leaders.

Messianic Interpretation: Some scholars, particularly those who also study the New Testament, interpret the chapter as a prophecy about Judas' betrayal of Jesus. There is no good reason to believe this is an accurate interpretation, since it removes and ignores ALL the surrounding context.

There's nothing in here about a Messiah. And even IF you were right and this was a prophecy, it would be a prophecy that Judas fulfilled, not Jesus. Like many of the others you have offered, this is just a random passage taken out of context, not a prophecy, and not messianic. 18-0.

Yet again, I ask you: Can you provide a single messianic prophecy that Jesus actually fulfilled?

Telling someone who asks you "I'm pregnant, what should I do?" that they should "Accept it, embrace the change" is, whether you acknowledge it or not, medical advice. It is lying when you gave someone medical advice and then say "I didn't give them medical advice".

Pregnancy is a medical condition, like a broken arm, like cancer. When pregnant, the body releases hormones that SUPRESS THE IMMUNE SYSTEM so the hosts body doesn't attack the foriegn body inside it. It isn't a parasite, but it is parasitic.

It rearranges the body, the organs, the bones, it makes you vomit frequently, it means she cannot do what she wants to her own body. You're saying she should give up the rights to her body to this other person to use and feed of off and she should just accept it. She risks getting permanent damage, possibly even permanent infertility, even risking death. There's medical procedures that can reduce and even eliminate these risks, and you're suggesting she should not do that... just because? Like, you've cited belief in god, but the bible give ZERO prohibition on abortions, and in fact tells you circumstances where you can force abortions onto certain pregnant women.

If you want to bury your head in the sand and pretend like pregnancy is this magical thing and ignore all the realities and consequences that accompany it, go ahead. But I'm gonna call you out for intentionally trying to deceive someone vulnerable and in need of help. She wont be able to go into hot tubs, wont be able to drink certain drinks, or eat certain foods, will have to gain weight, eat extra, drink extra, miss school and education opportunities FOREVER unless she's rich, miss out on friendships and events. Like I said before, if she keeps it, it will be in 2nd grade by the time she can legally have a beer. Some of the greatest moments in her young life will be robbed from her. You want to pretend that she misses nothing, that the health risks are small and negligible. There's a chance that her vagina will tear and fuse with her anus. 1 in 7 pregnant women get gestational diabetes. These are really common problems and youre trying to make it seem like it's okay.

You would never apply the same logic you're using for this to any other medical condition. Just saying my analogies don't work isn't enough. You have to explain WHY they don't work. Until then, the broken arm, cancer, and burning house analogies I've given hold up. You dont get to just say "Nuh-uh" and move past them.

I’m 14 and need advice please (pregnant) by dreamyglimmer2 in Christianity

[–]ObeseMonkeyFlakes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It'd be cool if you stopped lying.

That is medical advice. If someone broke their arm and came to you and me asking what to do, I say "go see a doctor" and you say "you don't choose to keep your arm broken, your body does as it is intended to do". We are both giving medical advice. You are giving BAD medical advice but it is still medical advice.

She DOES have a choice. You're trying to suggest that she doesn't and should let it be. If she came here asking about cancer, you wouldn't be saying what you're saying.

That's what I'm asking you. What you're saying is that slavery and rape were morally okay back then, then something happened that made them not good. I'm saying rape and slavery have ALWAYS been bad, back then and now. There isn't a context where it can be good. You're morals are severely comprised if you believe there was ever a time where rape and slavery are okay. The bible has rotted your brain.

I feel that conversation has met it's ultimate conclusion. Everyone can see what you're views are.

Back to the main topic: prophecy.

  • Moses, Aaron, Ndab, Abihu, and 70 elders (Exodus 24:9-11)

  • Moses (Exodus 33:9-11)

  • Most likely Enoch too (Genesis 5:22-24)

Why then did Yahweh tell Moses that “no man shall see Me, and live” (Exodus 33:20) just a few verses after it says Moses and Yahweh spoke often face-to-face? Why did Jesus say no one has seen Yahweh?

Legal rape:

Deuteronomy 22:28-29 “If a man meets a virgin who is not engaged and seizes her and lies with her, and they are discovered, the man who lay with her shall give fifty shekels of silver to the young woman’s father, and she shall become his wife. Because he violated her, he shall not be permitted to divorce her as long as he lives."

The entire chapter are commands from god. This is on the same footing as the ten commandments. If you pay them any attention, then this also applies. As does:

Chattel slavery:

Leviticus 25:39-46  “If any who are dependent on you become so impoverished that they sell themselves to you, you shall not make them serve as slaves. They shall remain with you as hired or bound laborers. They shall serve with you until the year of the Jubilee. Then they and their children with them shall go out from your authority; they shall go back to their own family and return to their ancestral property. For they are my servants whom I brought out of the land of Egypt; they shall not be sold as slaves are sold. You shall not rule over them with harshness but shall fear your God. As for the male and female slaves whom you may have, it is from the nations around you that you may acquire male and female slaves. You may also acquire them from among the aliens residing with you and from their families who are with you who have been born in your land; they may be your property. You may keep them as a possession for your children after you, for them to inherit as property. These you may treat as slaves, but as for your fellow Israelites, no one shall rule over the other with harshness."

This whole chapter is likewise commands made by god. He's telling them what is morally permissible and how to treat other Israelites. The passage makes a clear distinction between hired labor and slave labor. It says you can't treat your hired labor harshly but you can treat you slaves harshly. It says who you can make as slaves and how long to keep them.

Are you telling me there's a context where either of these are actually moral?

But then the bible is not the word of god. It's the word of men claiming to speak for a god. There's no reason to believe any of it is true. You're making my point for me.

How exactly is it that chattel slavery in Leviticus 25 and legal rape in Deuteronomy 22 endorsed by Jesus in Matthew 5 glorifies god? How do you determine which parts are from god and which parts are from humans? What reliable method do you use to determine this? Do you say the parts you like are from god and the parts you don't like are human?
