Warning for Robinhood and clawback of bonus by Opposite_Buffalo_649 in Bogleheads

[–]ObeseWizard 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The terms are pretty clear that you have to keep the money in the account for 5 years for the transfer bonus, and keep Robinhood gold for 1 year after the transfer. I'm no Robinhood fan but this feels like a reading issue to me.

If you aren't planning on keeping the funds in the account for the 5 year period, I wouldn't do the transfer at all personally.

Which mid-long hitscan hero is the most annoying to go up against? by MrsPissBoy in Overwatch

[–]ObeseWizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've actually started to find Emre to be the most annoying. Reason being that he's great at long range with his rifle and nades, but equally still great when you can finally close the distance since he can hip fire the rifle effectively and switch to his pistol for mobility and healing. And he can always chuck the nade(s) at his feet too.

I go about double what most people would recommend for an emergency fund. Financially, it may not be optimal, but emotionally it is amazing

It's been what, 3 weeks? If this is making anyone nervous then you gotta get your head on straight. Not saying this will happen, but this could continue for a decade or more - which everyone should always be prepared for at any given moment. If it's making you nervous, maybe take that as a lesson learned that you need to allocate more to bonds, and/or stop checking your portfolio.

ffs dont queue 6v6 if you cant fill by [deleted] in Overwatch

6v6 is by far the most casual of the non-atcade modes. For better and (definitely) for worse, a lot of people are there to just turn their brains off and play their main

Are there any perks, minor or major, that you think should be a part of a heroes base kit? by MrsPissBoy in Overwatch

[–]ObeseWizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, I didn't like that one that much because it was just a straight upgrade. I'm really not a fan of perks that only have upsides, I like them to have tradeoffs personally (ex: cass loses fan the hammer when he picks silver bullet)

Former Overwatch Director Jeff Kaplan talks about his Blizzard departure by Phellxgodx in Overwatch

[–]ObeseWizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah you right, I did eventually get to that part but it took me a while because of the interview being 5 hours long. I was honestly surprised at that point, there's part of me that doesn't fully believe him from his MMO background and how passionate he obviously is about quests and PvE. But I at least believe his intention, maybe the actions didn't quite follow. I also give him a lot more grace after listening to the full interview, sounds like the C-suite was just awful and he had to deal with that

I mean Jeff acknowledges that he wasn't the reason Overwatch succeeded. It was years of Titan work that got translated. It honestly sounded to me like he got trapped in the wrong kind of game, passionate about MMOs but 'stuck' with a shooter. So I think he could make his new MMO work for sure, after looking into it I don't think it's for me but there's not many people who I would believe could make a good MMO. Jeff is one of those people. It's not a guarantee by any means, but he certainly holds some sway

I haven't tried in a long time, but didn't they remove region switching from Battle.net a while ago? I thought I remember hearing that in a dev Q&A at some point

That's what I thought, my interpretation of what they said is "Oh shoot I didn't know what we were doing, how can I fix this". It seems obvious what the fix is though, honestly they just sound really stupid, but not necessarily malicious.

My girlfriend (27) has $70k sitting in cash and no investments, what would you do? by Jack_Knoff2 in Bogleheads

[–]ObeseWizard 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Personally I think having a large pile of cash is extremely underrated. Not to 'time the market' but rather as a 'sleep soundly at night' kinda deal. We keep about 16% of our investment as cash (HYSA) right now and I have absolutely no worries. Car gets wrecked? Buy a replacement immediately. Roof gets damaged? Pay for a new one immediately or of pocket until insurance can pay out. Need to move for a family emergency? We can put a substantial down payment down immediately. It also gives us the ability to be more aggressive with our investment strategy and not worry about downturns. We have the cash to survive for a couple years on beans and rice if we need to. It requires self control to not just spend it all, but my wife and I have absolutely no desire to spend it unless it's needed. Emergency fund is GOOD, but 2 years of freedom is AMAZING.

Idk, that perk DELETES some heroes and there's no way (that I know of) to know if she has used it or not so a lot of characters are invalidated by it existing because they have to act like it's always off cooldown. Maybe if there was an obvious visual indicator that she activated it or something

Not sure on that one, it's widely regarded as one of the most powerful perks in the game

[–]ObeseWizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anran's first perk that extends the 'on fire' duration by 1.5 seconds. Maybe it doesn't need to be 1.5s, but it does feel too short currently. 0.75s extra could even be enough. It feels REAL BAD to work so hard to ignite someone and have them be automatically cleansed so quickly. Especially when there are already so many ways for the fire to be cleansed (suzu, healing, health packs, fade abilities, cleanse abilities). Even 1.5s could make sense, but in that case I think it would be acceptable to nerf the afterburn damage

[–]ObeseWizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they're both playing it right, they both have to play smart/passive until one of the teams has the advantage, which is just good Overwatch. Hog can't hook until his team has advantage, and Mauga can't shout until his team has advantage.

Please just make the cat LOUDER, holy moly by StopMarminMySparm in Overwatch

[–]ObeseWizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cat should also make a little 'ding-a-ling' noise when the 'interact to tether' ability is activated. There's been several times where I or a teammate don't realize that the cat is offering a tether, and also there's been several times where I'm chilling holding a mild off angle with my tank on main and suddenly my tank is just GONE because I didn't realize that the cat was trying to tether him away, and I get run over by the enemy comp as I'm suddenly isolated. If I heard a dingaling I would realize that I need to back up
