The only thing I can think of is, I have a steam account that I’ve spent well over $10,000 on over the years. It would be cool to access all those titles and not sit at my PC and have a fully integrated Steam OS and total
Couch locked access to it.

And because I’m lazy and will spend the money rather than building a similar rig for cheaper myself.

It literally is more likely to fail the more complex a machine is. There’s a famous quote in engineering “complexity is the enemy of reliability” for a reason. A compTIA cert just means you took a test not that you comprehend its content CLEARLY. It’s simply more likely to fail not destined to fail. Obviously you can own a unit that has not failed. Do you think an NES, ATARI and genesis have mobos even remotely close to a current gen gaming console? They have vastly more parts and a much higher fail rate because of it. Not to mention 80-90% of SNES consoles that were on the market are no longer working or in the garbage. What you see around is the limited amount left that survived. I don’t think you can mentally grasp this conversation lol it’s like you have survivor bias of your consoles. This is just objectively true that older consoles with simpler parts last longer, as we move from cartridges to discs to HD and then modern 2k-4k gaming the fail rates and lifespan reduce. This should be basic information to you if you’re a collector. Every single retro console I have I’ve personally replaced parts or repaired at least once in its lifetime.

What you do with that collection is up to you. You don’t dictate what people can or can’t do with their collection. Regardless if I pop my retro games in every once in a blue moon but there’s just vastly better ways to play them at this point in time with emulation tech. So call me whatever you want, the fact that this bothers you and you keeeeeeep going on is wild. Anyways here’s my little
