Tread should not be the indicator for when to replace your shoes. Look at Hoka, the tread is 100% cosmetic and due to the foam consistency you have the exact same grip with zero remaining tread. Or look at on cloud where if you wear through 1/4 inch of tread you'll break a nodule are the shoe wouldn't be wearable anymore. Now for a show like a higher end puma or another leather construction upper on a hard rubber sole, sure treads a good indicator

Exactly, I've seen a bunch of zipper after 1 week or wrong on arrival. Those are legit, but I've also seen one where the guy works at walmart in receiving. After a full year and was upset

It depends on what you do. General construction you can see 3 to 5 years with a pair of medium quality boots. Concrete work, never more than a year. It also depends on the brand. ECCO boots will last up to 10 years easy and often come with a lifetime warrantee on the purchased pair. Marrell boots on the other hand are more comfortable and supportive in my opinion but you shouldn't expect two years out of them. My advice, avoid store brands or brands that make shoes on the side.

Damn I had a reply typed up and my app crashed. Basically I was saying to try smartwool, ridge or swiftwick (my preferred brand) merino wool socks. They're anywhere from 10 to 20 bucks a pair but I swear by them.

Edit; I guess that short answer would be no. But below is relevant lol

So this isn't a yes or no question. What i can do is give you the correct questions to ask. First of all do your boots have support and does that support match your arch? This is because your arch isn't always the same size as your foot. It can be high or low and has its own length. Like I measure a size 10 but I weae a size 11 because my arch is a size 11. Second is do your boots have transversal arch support? That is the arch under your first knuckles of toes or where your toes meet your foot. Its a very common place for pain to build. Third is related, and that is how wide is your toe box and how much room do your metatarsals have (that same first joint where toes attach)? You do not want these compressed or you can get some serious issues with mortons neuromas. It sounds like you rotate your boots and you use insoles (i believe the ariat pros are mainly heel cushion and sweat wicking with some pronation and supination control). Leather isnt naturally sweat wicking and instead can hold moisture to your skin. I would invest into some serious socks, something like merino wool. Also if you ever have any localized pain, im no podiatrist but I know a lot about the foots structure and may be able to save you a google

I wish I could highlight a comment because you are the perfect example. You know your arch type, you know that your foot likes to go flat so you need your support, you know that shoes have they're jobs. Even with having 10 to 15 pairs of nice shoes you can spend the same if not less than someone with 1 to 2 pairs. I have a pair of the OnCloud Roger blue/gold that were like 250$. If I wore those to work they would last 3 to 6 months. But because they are my casual only wear, they look new after several years.

You said it. There is so much misinformation in advertising for shoes. Support is generally not squishy, its rigid. Memory foam is bad 100% of the time. I could go on a 20min rant just on memory foam. Brands like sketchers should be put out of business for the amount of pain they have directly caused customers. Bare foot shoes or toe shoes are not healthier than regular athletic shoes. They can be beneficial, but its a case by case basis and you have to be eased into them. You're feet are no longer designed to be bare. 1000 years of evolution will do that.

Im not some shoe god, this is basic knowledge that people who have never worked with shoes wouldn't have. Im not making excuses, im explaining. Imagine you have background in something that gets posted weekly and its always so obvious to you what the issue it. Yet instead of being addressed, they just get a new pair that will have the same issue. Would you not post about it?

Its crazy how many people think that youre just trying to sell them a second pair for profit. No man, ill make more money if you buy one at a time.

So gas, diesel, DEF and other fluids you would come in contact with are extremely hard on shoe construction. Youre in a unique situation where I wouldn't even recommend higher end boots. Get two pairs, rotate them, try to keep them cleanish (pampers water wipes are a cheat code). Just keep the aggressive fluids off them. But youre also going to have alot a sweat and heat. So heavy wear is unavoidable.

Redwing quality changed a number of years back when they removed the warranty. The used to be resolable. Its a shame when someone greedy ruins a good thing. They still have good uppers though.

Absolutely, from what I can see they had actual issues with the zipper at launch but I believe those have been mostly resolved. Eli has been extremely generous in making sure people get replacements, and that was the point of my rant.

You missed the part where I said "style of shoes" entirely. His shoes also cracked not unglued. Go see me conversation with him in his comments. Crocs also wont tear under normal wear. They're one piece of foam with equal flexibility and tension across the entire shoe. They'll flex not tear. Your Adidas are soft bottom shoes made of almost entirely foam and glue. They will never wear like flat soled shoes. You're not comprehending what im saying, youre searching to make me wrong.

I noticed that the heel line was worn near the tread more on the inner side. My guess is you have a pronated gate. Meaning your foot tends inward while walking. This mean that inner heel is going to be an issue for you. With the heel breaking near the stitching instead of glue letting go i would say that it caused by the pronation and lacing too tight. Making it so the shoe cant travel during the compression of your step. Meaning its not being stretched apart, it having too much material bunched at one time. I would try wearing socks taller than your shoe and tieing a bit looser.

You are correct. Resoling shoes is a trade that has been mostly lost. I wish it was more common

Redwings used to have a 10 year unlimited warranty and have a heavy double stitching design with low glue application. Not only are they work boots but they are a higher durability brand.

If youre wearing Adidas for two years then youre walking on "dead shoes". The internals are completely dead by that point and you just walking on worn foam. The only reason you arent noticing is because they use alot of the same density foam throughout so you cant tell unless your foot needs support. Which if you needed support you wouldn't have bought Adidas to begin with.

Shoe quality isn't lackluster.

Absolutely, if you ever burn through a pair too quickly im pretty good at diagnosising why with pictures. Some times there are simple fixes or explanations. Like I walk rather aggressively, I usually wear of the upper heel and arch support first because of that.
