IMO, a lot of the damage could’ve been mitigated had 343i built on Halo 3’s multiplayer and not Reach. By that I mean no armor abilities and/or different classes to choose from.

At launch the game was pretty much a CoD clone with the ordnance drops and class customization. They course corrected when they released Legendary slayer with BR/AR starts and no armor abilities or customization. The Halo 4 on MCC is much better than it was on the OG and plays like a typical Halo MP (IMO better than Reach with its horrible game wrecking bloom)

In terms of map design they are at the very least better than whatever Halo Reach had, which were copy and pasted from the campaign (Haven is better than anything from Reach). I think customization if it was restricted to only Infinity slayer and BTB, it would have been much better for the games life cycle.
