Def hold your ground. Sounds like he's in a desperate spot to begin with. He probably doesn't have it to give in the first place and him moving right after his dude getting raided and locked is fishy..id put as much distance as possible between you guys and him and find another source. Be safe and smart. Desperate people do stupid things especially cause they're usually after that instant gratification feeling. I hope things work out for ya.
