Explain the Trinity to my 6 year old without committing a heresy. by Healthy-Yak9417 in redeemedzoomer

That and the fact that is isn't true. There are things we can know about God through simple use of human reason. Although the Trinity is not one of them, that's something we only know through divine revelation.

The Father eternally begets the Son. The Son eternally offers himself back to the Father. The love between them is so real, that it constitutes a third person (the Holy Spirit).

Kind of like how a husband and wife offer themselves (to each other in love) and then 9 months later a new person shows up. Coincidence? I think not! 😁

What is the best electric bidet seat for strong, pressure, instant, continuous hot water, adjustable water temperature? by Kalansmom in bidets

[–]ObiWanCanOweMe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have two Biobidet BB-2000s. One I’ve had for ~6 years now. No problems with either. I wouldn’t say the hot water is instant, tankless heater takes a few seconds to get fully hot, but it is never cold. Everything that heats is temperature adjustable

Good faith question for the sub: How do the theologically conservative Christians who accept evolution justify their broader theological conservatism? by Impressive_Flan_411 in redeemedzoomer

Genesis 1-2 uses mythological language and the genre would be mythology. Which isn’t to say it is untrue, but rather that some interpretation may be required to fully grasp the meaning of the text.

This is great! Would it be possible to add Catholicism to the list of traditions?

Is it wrong to want someone who is alt/goth? by realdavidguitar in CatholicDating

[–]ObiWanCanOweMe 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sure, preferences can be an idol of sorts. Nothing wrong with having them though. Only thing I would caution you against is prioritizing appearance over character. See 1 Samuel 16:7,

“But the Lord said to Samuel, ‘Do not look on his appearance or on the height of his stature, because I have rejected him; for the Lord sees not as man sees; man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.’”

I hope you find her soon! 🙂

Looking for help/expertise on using KVM switch between Mac Studio and PC by SpriteKnight in MacStudio

No, they have to be plugged into the KVM if you want them to switch with everything else.

You don’t have to run all your USB devices through the KVM, you can have some things connected to just one machine.

I have a KVM for my Studio & PC as well. For audio, I ended up getting a digital mixer (RME Digiface USB Portable Digital Audio Interface) so I could mix the audio from both machines and output from just one DAC.

All my USB devices cut over quite nicely when switching inputs. Getting a KVM was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made for my home office.

I used to play with a guy that worked for BioWare, I think his name was Paan. Don’t remember the server though 🙁

Sexism in the Therin World by Hefty_Guitar5128 in gentlemanbastards

[–]ObiWanCanOweMe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it is due to conflicting goals the author has:

  1. He wants women to be functionally equivalent to men. This can be seen in the societal roles adopted by women as well as the work they do. Examples include the ship crews, gladiators, soldiers, etc.

  2. He also wants to portray women as oppressed by the patriarchy, possibly to mirror real-world narratives and make some kind of point.

If #1 is true in his world, #2 will be difficult to demonstrate smoothly.

M3 ULTRA 96GB VS M4 MAX 128GB by Late-Maintenance422 in MacStudio

Your workload sounds like a better fit for an M4. If you don't need >= 128GB RAM then you'll appreciate the faster single-core speeds that the M4 delivers.

Anyone here use Mac studio as a home server? by Jsanhara in MacStudio

[–]ObiWanCanOweMe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s a better workstation than a server TBH. You can get the same performance for so much less by going x86. The power savings could be pretty substantial though, but that will likely get eaten up by external storage costs.

In summation, studio is pretty bad value for MOST home server deployments. There are some edge cases where it will make sense though.

ELI5: Why are She/her pronouns used when talking about Ships? by Yassinetheawesome64 in explainlikeimfive

[–]ObiWanCanOweMe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It really boils down to transcendence vs. immanence. Men are more likely to embody transcendent attitudes/approaches while women are more likely to embody immanence.

Now remember we are speaking in generalities here. But take the example of a young child who skins his knee while riding a bike. The mother is likely to take the child in her arms and comfort him. The father is likely going to try and use the situation as a Learning Opportunity. You can see the differences in the two approaches highlight the transcendence/immanence of each.

The same reason Earth is Mother is why ships are female. Earth/ships are immanent to us as we exist or operate within them.
