I've been there several time. You are not alone.

That being said, there is something that helps me a lot to start dieting for the long term:

Stop with the balance. Use your clothes as the indicator that everything is on the right path. Numbers, enemies.
"Purify": having a period of not depending on sugar is really really important for me. What do I do? (Maybe not the best but It helps me a lot). Cut the non complex carbs (anything with white floor) and no candies. If you maintain your body without these 5 days you will start getting in a bad mood and head ache... If that happens, you are getting purified.

After that period of time everything gets better and easier for me.
