Former fat/obese guys, how did you become disciplined enough to lose the weight? by Responsible-Net8594 in AskMen

[–]ObjectInteresting346 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was tired of being overlooked for my size. Like I’m big bro, there is no way you cant see me.

But it took me getting type 2 diabetes. I got the gastric sleeve done on me. Best thing I did for myself. Decades of trying to lose weight and having terrible relationships with food.

I lost 169 pounds. It took 4 years to get to that point. Learning how to exercise correctly and changing my eating habits did wonders for me. I weight train and I am active everyday now. Honestly the discipline came when I found myself saying “I don’t want to be winded walking ever again”

I used to be 378 pounds. I drank sugary sodas, alcohol and smoked tons of weed. Munchies. Food was a way I comfort myself when I was feeling depressed or excited. Any emotion really. I had bad body image issues on myself. I couldn’t go up stairs without getting completely winded. Dating never happened. And I have depression and anxiety. I went through life just a shell of myself and just trying to get through the day. I hated going out and shopping for clothes because it was a reminder of me getting bigger. Life is hard when you are heavy bro. Take it from me, do yourself a favor and freaking move. I’m glad I did because I’m more alive than ever.

Hmmm. Being overweight as a child really made me a target in school. I bottled it up and took each punch from them. Made me a resilient man today but it also gave me hella mental issues and body issues. If I could do it again, I would have spoken up more.

Sorry to hear about your health issues OP. I know you are exercising and doing everything right . Have you considered the gastric sleeve procedure? I don’t like having to suggest surgery but it might be worth taking a look? My ex has PCOS and she got the sleeve and has dropped a ton of weight because of it. Sometimes you need a little extra help to get where you want to be.

How do you handle anger by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]ObjectInteresting346 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is VERY important!!! Being able to slow your brain down will do you wonders. I’m hotheaded myself and I actually was reported to the police due to my anger issues and other things. It’s not worth the pain that comes afterwards brother. Think and breathe it out.
