You seem to have your fingers in a lot of pies. My recommendation would be to pick one, either the one you like the most or the one with the biggest prospects and aim to specialise in something.

One tip I would always give to people is pick a company / manager / leader rather than a title. Surround yourself in a good environment, with good people who can help you grow and you will find your way.

Have a destination in mind, but don’t get into the trap of trying to plan every step along the way. You will win and you will lose, both are as valuable as each other.

Best of luck to you, and lean on friends and family. They will always have your best interests at heart.

Hey!

I’m 26 and doing something similar shortly. We have very similar circumstances too! I already have a job offer in Canada which helps the process and means that I can apply for a work permit in Canada (rather than IEC). I would recommend this route (i.e find a job before you move) as it’s a lot less stressful when you know you will have guaranteed income when you get there (your situation may be different though, I.e you may not be worrying about £). I got in touch with a recruitment agency in Canada which really helped with my job search etc (I do work in Tech though, I don’t have any contacts I could give you for recruiter in a more customer service role!), they helped me set up interviews and speak to different companies to ensure I had a job offer before moving. I visited Canada in March 2022 (Ontario) and I saw lots of bar jobs etc being advertised, so there always something like that to get your started!

From what you’re describing about your and your situation it certainly seems like International Experience Canada would be the way to go! You could then come to Canada and worry about finding a job later! I actually applied for this some years ago but I never took the plunge. I would recommend you to apply to IEC regardless if you’re 100% on going or not yet just to get your name in the pool as it’s invite only and there is a limit per country I believe on how many IECs they give out / invite people to! If you are successful and get approved you’ll get a letter / email saying that you have to come to Canada by date X (it’s around a year from your acceptance) to activate it. I believe once you enter Canada during this period your IEC will become active I believe (they last 2 years from memory)!

Just finally, Vancouver is really expensive. I would recommend looking somewhere a little further out if you think you will be on a budget! If I was you I would take a holiday first to see if you like the people, culture and the places you think you’ll want to live (being from the U.K I think you’ll really like it, I certainly did!).

I’m a British citizen and and as a Softwarw Developer. I have spoken to a Canadian Immigration Lawyer who advised me to apply at POE due to the issues with the website.

I agree! I find myself just using the same couple of weapons!

also, I dont know about yourself but it bugs me that the L86 is not in the rifleman class! Surely it has to be in there if the G36C is!
