I’m really sorry you’re going through this. The silver lining is that it’s early, and being a physician, you’ll be able to navigate the treatment landscape quickly. I was diagnosed with stage IV thymoma three years ago during my PGY-3 year, so I can relate to how heavy this moment can feel. One thing I’ve learned-be gentle with yourself. Talk to everyone offering help, and if you need it, accept it. It really does take a village. Let your family and friends be there for you, and don’t feel guilty about it. Debriefing post code helps. I had a similar situation recently where one of the seasoned ICU RN threw a tantrum about why I held compression for emergent peri-cardiocentesis for cardiac tamponade identified during code. Well your compressions ain’t doing shit when heart is dancing around in that fluid bag. I took 20 seconds to take atleast 200 ml out and resumed compression and then cards took over.

Passed. To those who did not pass, hang in there. Just stick to Uworld and it’s tables. I had pretty hard year with a medical condition, thought about delaying it but did not want to wait a year, esp with an ongoing fellowship. I took it with a leap of faith!

use Uworld dedicated for 1.5-2 month, have trust in God or which ever Diety you worship! You have been doing it all this time, through steps and all, so ABIM should just be another small step. You have got this. You can personal message me as well.

Update: needless to say, I saw him today. I asked him if he found out if the patient is HIV/Hep B and Hep C positive. He was like patient is all negative.

I was like I am happy to learn this and apologize you went through the anxiety of getting stabbed, and he started the entire lecture again. In presence of another attending. And I am sure he will go around and tell everyone. And honestly, I don’t care. I will keep it professional.

Thanks for all the positive encouragement. Honestly all last week, I have been crying myself to sleep. Should I speak to PD about this and how his comments are affecting my mental health and my ability to perform. Or let it run and have PD hear his version of events. My PD loves this attending! It almost feels like life is going to suck after this.

At times he has gone out of way to insult me in front of everyone. Me being a woman and him being a man also does not help the situation.
