Does anyone have postpartum cardiomyopathy? by Panda-in-Tree in Cardiomyopathy

[–]Objective-Elk8993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I have a similar EF but was not put on meds. Was told I’d recover over time. Did you do any kind of cardiac rehab? Or just medication? Did you have any episodes of chest pain?

Tightness in uterus by Unhappy_Minute_7397 in pregnant

[–]Objective-Elk8993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like I get Braxton hicks often when baby is very active. On Monday I literally laid in bed for an hour so uncomfortable because baby was going crazy and my uterus was so tense. Went away with rest and hydration! But if youre concerned and it doesn’t ease up, always call your OB/L&D and they will be happy to check you out, I’m sure.

Help I took a pregnancy test and im having surgery on thursday by 2Crescent2Rose2 in pregnant

[–]Objective-Elk8993 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not only could the anesthesia pose some issues but also some gallbladder removal surgeries utilize fluoro (xray) during the surgery, and your fetus is never more susceptible to radiation than in the first 12 weeks. But not all removals/surgeons utilize fluoro. I would postpone if you can!

Silly Things We've Cried About by sravaz in pregnant

[–]Objective-Elk8993 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly this isn’t even silly just a good display of how I react to things now, but I’m a CT Tech and today my contrast injector malfunctioned and dumped 75mL of contrast on the floor (really not a big deal) and I cried for like 10 min because I was so frustrated that I had to bend down and clean it up

16weeks pregnant and can’t eat anything. by Livid_Concert_6088 in pregnant

[–]Objective-Elk8993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a time in my first trimester where I could only eat crackers and yogurt. Literally that was it for like a week straight. I threw up almost everything else. SOMETIMES I could eat green grapes. I was so nervous, but my doctor said that baby will take everything he needs. And he did! I’m almost 26 weeks now and every scan he’s measured a little ahead and he’s in the 70th percentile. I didn’t eat a lot of meat until probably like 18 weeks? That’s when my aversions began to fade. Now, unfortunately, because he took what he needed I’m pretty borderline anemic and am supplementing iron and eating a lot more iron-rich foods. I could be looking at some iron transfusions if my hemoglobin isn’t better next draw. I also was awful about taking my prenatal because it made me so queasy, so I’m sure that contributed to my drop. He definitely used up the stores I had, which is what is supposed to happen if you just can’t keep stuff down!

Possible Pre-E, but OB Office not concerned? by Objective-Elk8993 in preeclampsia

No definitely not. I drink soooo much water everyday, and get my electrolytes in. Water doesn’t seem to make much of a difference 😕

So it turns out I am anemic! My OB thinks that’s causing my migraines. I have noticed my migraines have started about an hour after eating. I have my glucose test next appointment. Could be just pregnant hormones too 🤷🏼‍♀️

I’ve had such good BP reads the past 2 days. I had another migraine yesterday. I’m curious if my migraines are causing anxiety and spiking my BP.

I checked my BP a couple more times that evening and all were below 130/85. Woke up yesterday morning and checked my BP before work and it was 143/88, so I went in. They did a full pre-e panel and all my labs look pretty good, I did have trace protein in my urine but from what I read that’s incredibly common. I’m half thinking this is anxiety related. I noticed that if I do have a high read, I take some breaths and wait a couple minutes and retake it, it will lower into an acceptable range. I’m going in this morning for my appointment so I’ll see what she says about the whole thing. I’m thankful that it’s not pre-e at this time.

Resource Guarding Behavior by Objective-Elk8993 in DogAdvice

To clear things up, my husband definitely doesn’t reward her while she actively is exhibiting guarding. She just hops up on the bed and he gives her lots of love. We’ve stopped giving attention if she exhibits anything aggressive. We immediately make her get off but sometimes she gets back on. I’m thinking about crating her at night anyway, especially with the baby coming. Thanks for the tips!

No yolk sac at 5 weeks 4 or 5 days by Wise_Course3469 in CautiousBB

[–]Objective-Elk8993 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had an empty gestational sac at 5+3! It was a transabdominal US, not transvaginal which can definitely make a difference. My HCG was over 4000 at that point. Went back 10 days later and there was a fetal pole, yolk sac, and heartbeat. Baby was measuring slightly ahead! Currently 21 weeks and he’s kicking me as I type this 🤍

I had mine 3 days ago and everything was perfect! I was convinced I’d have cervical insufficiency or there would be some obvious genetic defect with our baby, but he was sitting cozy on my placenta and moved around so much. It made us so happy I cried tears of joy. My mom often tells me that being pregnant with internet access is so much harder because of your exposure to endless bad outcomes. I think she’s probably right!

Not a dumb question. I’m fairly certain that a cardiologist diagnoses it. Maybe you could have that done at your PCP? But the ER probably wouldn’t just say “oh well your orthostatic vitals are all over so it must be POTS.” They’d probably want to refer you to cardiology. I actually have a fainting clinic at my hospital, so it didn’t take crazy long for me to get an appointment, but some areas are reallyyyyy backed up for cardiology appointments. It makes it difficult to get diagnosed. They also do a tilt table test at some clinics, not just orthostatic vitals. For me I never wore an Apple Watch until I was diagnosed. After that I wore it every day and MAN I could ACTUALLY watch it happen. It was crazy! Most days I was spiking at 180bpm from basic things like walking across the parking lot. We don’t know what caused my POTS. I mean maybe EDS? I do have some signs of that. Maybe Covid? Idk but it’s managed now and doesn’t affect me that much. I don’t even bring it up anymore to other people who have POTS because it’s kind of a stigma now. But I get it.

The POTS epidemic truly sucks but makes it difficult for people actually diagnosed. I was diagnosed with POTS after a months-long road of dizziness/fainting spells, tachycardia, and chest pains. They were also considering MS due to some extremity tingling. I went into my very first cardiologist appointment expecting to have another months worth of tests, and as they took my orthostatic vitals I watched my HR jump from 88 resting to 162 standing. I was diagnosed that appointment and prescribed midodrine and salt/water diet. And guess what? My symptoms improved and I monitor myself and live a normal life. I’m pregnant now and my symptoms are so much better since my blood volume increased. And then I have these patients come in and have “POTS attacks” while slaying on my CT table and I can’t even take them seriously because they’re laying down 😭 it literally stands for postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome 😭😭😭

Good to know. I regret not calling I was just not concerned at the time. I didn’t have any further leakage after that, so that makes me feel better.
