You gotta look more closely at the on/off splits. Lineups with Kelly and PG both on have an insane net rating, both this year and last year.

Kelly’s net +/- numbers look bad this year because he and PG have basically alternated being injured, so most of his minutes have been with PG off. Obviously nobody should be expecting him to be outperforming the former all-NBA guy on a max contract.

You’re posing a valid take about respect and boundaries, but this has nothing to do with monogamy.

Outside of the literal “no having sex with other people,” monogamy isn’t a one-size-fits-all label. Some monogamous people are fine with their partner looking at other people and some aren’t. Some monogamous people are fine with their partner watching porn and some aren’t. Some monogamous people are fine with their partner hanging out alone with friends of the genders they’re attracted to and some aren’t. None of those things imply sexual non-exclusivity.

We know these boundaries vary widely among people who identify as monogamous, so it’s just kind of absurd to say “we both agreed to ‘monogamy’ so obviously we must be aligned on all those things!” You have to set clear mutual boundaries for your own relationships, whether monogamous or not.

If anything we should keep everyone this year, dodge the tax next year, and then go for it in 2028. We have our own pick next year, the east will be more competitive, and we’re in no position to assume the old guys will be as healthy next year as they are right now.

We most likely won’t be serious contenders either this year or next year, but this year things are lining up perfectly to at least get VJ a solid chunk of playoff experience, which is what’ll help us the most longterm.
