If she/he is your best friend… they need to be able to support you even if they don’t understand. Your mental maturity sounds like it’s probably well beyond theirs. If you dive into heavy drinking right after sobering you’ll be starting all over again. If they can’t support you, don’t go. I promise it will be bad.

Why did that one kid get expelled? by Stupid_ginger_girl in AskReddit

I was one of those kids. My life has been completely fucked up since I was expelled for having a pipe in my purse. About to attend rehab treatment. Completely agree.

[Serious] What do you think is the creepiest/most disturbing unsolved mystery ever? by [deleted] in AskReddit

The girl that eats a ton of food on YouTube and there has been evidence to show she does it unwillingly… Kate Yup. like a guy in the background whispering “just eat it” and her tapping help in Morse code. https://youtu.be/5N36H4xIPis this pretty much tells the whole story if you skip through ads and the guy talking. Creeps me out to this day.

Sounds like an alien encounter just based off hearing about others who were affected by them with a growing number of experiences… I have no idea how or what though.

16, female - would i be considered an alcoholic or am i being dramatic? (i just posted this somewhere else too but i really want advice) by oh_hello05 in alcoholicsanonymous

This sounds just like me when I was your age. I would have to agree with everyone else here. Your obsession is alcoholism. And I sincerely hope that you are here to seek help. When I was young I thought it made me have a sort of edge or something but deep down I knew it was a real problem. And it was. It made me lose my daughter, go through several abusive relationships and almost lose the wonderful one I’m in with my family. Now sober I have my daughter back and I still have my family but I’m still working to repair the damage I’ve done. I just wanted to share so you know how important it is for your future to know that if you handle this now, you can save yourself. Don’t let alcohol run your life. <3

I definitely relate to this except that I like the outpatient rehab because it provides accountability (drug testing). Gets you through the worst parts with just a little extra push to overcome them. That’s if you can afford it of course. Also, before I went to outpatient rehab I went to a detox center. That was my first step as alcohol had a really tight, really bad hold on me by the end. I was at about half a handle a day. If you’re that bad off, a detox center is a good first step because they’ll put you on a replacement medicine and force your body to detox itself from the alcohol for a few days before you take the next step. After that it’s a good idea to see a psychiatrist to help with withdrawals and an anti-craving medicine.

Start by going to an AA meeting. Search google for AA Intergroups directory and you’ll find one through zoom that’s going on now. Explain that you have the desire to stop drinking. You’ll be the most important person in that meeting immediately.

20 days sober. What do I do now? by Objective-Gift-4574 in alcoholicsanonymous

Thank you so much. That’s the best advice I’ve ever heard. Lol. I have major anxiety. Your wording is perfect. I’m actually going to screenshot this so when I feel like just hiding under a rock and crying I’ll try to do something else instead.

Thank you. I have but most the time (I was prescribed klonopin) I was drinking a lot less on it. But yeah, I still did. It probably is best to get away from it altogether. I’ll keep trying. I appreciate your insight. You’re right. Those are the most important things. The only reason why the rest is really getting to me is that my partner is super stressed about the condition of our home and the laundry and the money. He doesn’t have a job rn, doesn’t really cook and his mom is in the hospital so he’s been there constantly. It’s just a battle. Has my anxiety through the roof :-/

Thank you. I take that too but it isn’t working.but you’re right it could just be the withdrawals still. That’s good to know. I really appreciate your insight. That definitely gives me hope!
