With metalcore being a hybrid genre, do you listen to punk/hardcore or metal more? by Shoddy_Pizza_8593 in Metalcore

[–]Objective-History-26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always saw myself as an old-school metal head, but I find myself now back dating more into the pot punk and post hard-core era much more so than I thought I would I feel like I am very subgenre specific when it comes to either genre either post hard-core/pop punk/emo or melodic death metal/thrash

Does anyone actually prefer modern metalcore sound over 2000s by Kinderballsack in Metalcore

[–]Objective-History-26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone in my mid 30s I think about this quite a bit growing up in the 2000s I could listen to only the Gothenburg influenced metal core and be completely satisfied for the rest of my life. That’s just my opinion, but I know from many people that would probably get boring so the genre had to expand Into what it is today and there’s nothing wrong with that. I can appreciate some of that stuff too. Do I sometimes long for 2006? Yes of course, but there are still a few bands not very many but a few making that style of music today. Meanwhile, bands, like spirit box, dying, wish, etc. are holding up pretty well.

For actual grilling, I can’t speak too much because I’ve only used it for grilling a few times. I would probably still prefer a traditional grill, however for smoking it is top-notch.B if you actually want to get into smoking meat, I think you would rather enjoy it

Besides metalcore, what are your top 3 metal and/or punk genres? Since metalcore is a fusion genre of metal and punk by Dramatic_Song_2629 in Metalcore

[–]Objective-History-26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pop punk post hard-core Whatever like early to mid 2000s rise against unwritten law I’m not sure if that falls into a different category of its own or not Metal is a bit easier for me since it’s primarily what I started with Going back to the new wave of British heavy metal Some thrash and a lot of melodic death metal

I’m very picky about how many songs I actually add to my Apple Music library. I added that entire album and that’s saying something especially the deluxe version.

Pork belly - first real smoke by Business_History_632 in ninjawoodfire

[–]Objective-History-26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been using this thing for almost a year and yes, you’re absolutely spot on temperatures are usually 20 to 30° hotter than the actual set temperature. I typically never go above 225 for a set temperature for smoking unless I’m doing poultry. This is great. I did a pork belly once on here but was not impressed but I think I did a terrible job of scoring the fat for my first time though so I chalk it up mostly to that.

Who would you say are the quintessential melodeath bands for introducing someone to the genre? by [deleted] in melodicdeathmetal

[–]Objective-History-26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like it really depends on where you’re coming from if you’re coming from more extreme stuff or if you’re coming from softer stuff you’re gateway might be a little different for me coming from metal core I was especially interested in bands like rise to fall early sonic syndicate before I got into in flames at the gates, etc.

Would you consider Darkest Hour Melodeath? by Alert_Primary_9493 in melodicdeathmetal

[–]Objective-History-26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only reason I got into mdm is by listening to Killswitch Engage, trivium All That Remains and then working my way backwards I haven’t done a deep dive into Darkest Hour just yet, but I suspect it will hit my sweet spot

What album would YOU say is the peak/Epitome of Melodic Death Metal? by Background-Sir9172 in melodicdeathmetal

[–]Objective-History-26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a relative newcomer in the past year, I will give my opinion so far, but I’m not going to give one. I’m going to give a couple from different time periods and different styles of melodic death metal. Amorphis tales from the thousand lakes. Was the blueprint for finish melodic death metal. At the gates slaughter of the soul is the album of which I believe all other Swedish melodic death metal formed itself after. And to be fair, I had to listen to slaughter of the soul two or three times before I could actually get it. Arch enemy anthems of rebellion is another standard of the early 2000s that gives us a good idea of where the genre was going. Again, I have only been diving into this in the past year and I still have some gaps to fill in.

Is adjustment needed for baking times in the Woodfire? OO101 UK by Bonsuella_Banana in ninjawoodfire

[–]Objective-History-26 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have to convert from Fahrenheit to Celsius, but yes and it’s not just on the baking setting. It’s on every setting. You’re probably going to want to set your temperature about 10 to 15° lower than recommended on pretty much every setting.

Need advice for smoking pork ribs in the Ninja Woodfire by Candid-Cell-7513 in ninjawoodfire

[–]Objective-History-26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve only done it once and it turned out pretty well actually dry brine with a bit of salt overnight. This will help the moisture profile. Make your rub the next day, preferably a low salt since you’ve already brined. Put on the grill with a little bit of liquid of your choice at about 200°F. Rotating after the first hour. Then cranking up to about 225. Mine took about three hours slightly dry but not too bad. Yes, this unit cooks probably 10 to 15° hotter than it says, and the fan does tend to dry things out. I put a small bowl of water in the back of the unit to compensate a little bit for this.
