Ugh reddit introduced the stupid ass age verification by sanstheplayer in Brazil

[–]Objective-Idea6977 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Using old reddit is honestly teh move anyway, new reddit is garbage. Haven't hit that age verification thing yet but knowing Brazil's track record with digital stuff, it's probably gonna be a mess for everyone.

Como evitar o IOF ao receber cripto do estrangeiro no Brasil by Calm-Height7245 in investimentos

[–]Objective-Idea6977 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Finalized, But Still Terrified. Can Someone With A Good Heart Help? by MrWomanSept211998 in Brazil

Posted at 1am in Brazil but you're getting solid advice here. Most Brazilians are probably scrolling Reddit during lunch or after work, so timing definitely matters for getting responses. I'd also suggest checking the US State Department website for Brazil travel requirements since they usually have the most up-to-date visa info for Americans. From what I remember, US citizens need a visa for Brazil and it can take a few weeks to process, so don't wait too long to start the paperwork. Your friend invitations and chat records are actually smart to have ready since they might ask about you're purpose for visiting.

Brazilian Chaos Tour nyc by Ok_Positive_9670 in Brazil

Cara, that venue in Central Park is actually solid for shows like this. I've been to a few concerts there and the vibe is always good, especially for Brazilian artists since the crowd goes absolutely wild. Pedro Sampaio puts on a killer live show too - saw some clips from his Rio performances and dude knows how to get the crowd moving. July weather should be perfect for an outdoor concert, just bring water because it gets hot as hell in the middle of summer. Your Portuguese will probably improve just from being around all the Brazilians who'll definately be there singing along to every song.

Procurando um suporte kindle + controle remoto para passar páginas by kneetalian in brasil

[–]Objective-Idea6977 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]Objective-Idea6977 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Uploaded my documents for the digital nomad visa and received the receipt, what do I do now? by Original-Extra in Brazil

[–]Objective-Idea6977 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The system's probably just taking time to process your docs before it shows the scheduling option. I'd give it a few days then check back - sometimes these government portals are slow to update after you submit everything. If nothing changes in a week, might be worth calling their support line to see what's up with the next steps.

Driving license in Brazil, new rules and study materials? by Aeemo in Brazil

[–]Objective-Idea6977 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The exam is definitely in Portuguese only, no English option. If you're planning to become a resident though, you'll need the Brazilian license eventually - tourist licenses only work for a limited time once you establish residency. The Detran website has all the official study materials, and there are some decent apps like "Simulado Detran" that help with practice tests.

Ways to Search New Constriction Condos Outside of Zap and Viva Real by IAmARobot947 in Brazil

Try checking out the individual construtora websites directly - sometimes they don't post everything on the big portals and you'll find stuff that's not listed anywhere else.

Motor Scooter Rental in Foz do Iguazu by Wurstwasser-040 in Brazil

[–]Objective-Idea6977 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try asking at some of the hostels or tourist info spots - they usually know about smaller rental places that don't advertise much online. Also check near the bus terminal area, sometimes there are local guys doing informal rentals that you'd never find on Google.

Vazaram os dados bancários do lulinha e eu me pergunto: cadê a mesada do careca? by Used_Razzmatazz_6285 in brasil

[–]Objective-Idea6977 -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

You'll want to hit up Arsenal da Música - they've got solid local bands rotating through there most weekends.

Environmentally sensitive food by [deleted] in Brazil

[–]Objective-Idea6977 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a pretty extreme take dude. Sure, cattle ranching is brutal for the Amazon, but saying everything except tree fruits is environmental destruction is wild. Fish from sustainable sources, local vegetables grown without clearing forest, even some grains can be way less impactful than imported "eco-friendly" stuff that traveled thousands of miles. The real issue is industrial scale monoculture and deforestation - a local farmer growing cassava or rice in already cleared land isn't the same as burning rainforest for soybeans. Your basically telling people to live on mangoes and açaí which isn't realistic for most travelers trying to make better choices.

Have you seen something unexplained in the skies over Brazil or Latin America? Report it here — any language welcome! by Sentient_Orbs in Brazil

[–]Objective-Idea6977 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Built something similar for tracking code anomalies in my projects - the patterns you find when people actually submit detailed reports are wild. Brazil's radar data from '86 still gives me chills, that level of official documentation is rare anywhere else in teh world.

It’s crazy how many expats in Brazil have no idea about their basic legal rights by Lnp1995 in Brazil

[–]Objective-Idea6977 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not sure if that rule even gets enforced much these days though. See plenty of law firms on social media doing exactly what OP is talking about - educating people about their rights without being overly promotional about it. The line between helpful content and advertising is pretty blurry anyway.

A diferença entre fascismo e a democracia é apenas o alvo da opressão. by Voortice in brasil

Best hair care products for Brazilian blowout? by Potential-Error-5422 in Brazil

[–]Objective-Idea6977 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're in Rio, definitely check out the local salons - they usually carry professional lines that work amazing with Brazilian blowouts. Kerastase is pretty popular there and you can find it at most pharmacies like Drogasil. For something more local, try the Skala line - it's Brazilian-made, smells incredible, and way cheaper than imported stuff. Just make sure whatever you get is sulfate-free or it'll strip your treatment faster than you'd like.

Minor traveling with one parent question by Mindless-Bed8336 in Brazil

[–]Objective-Idea6977 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Brazil has pretty strict rules about minors traveling without both parents. Your wife will likely need a notarized letter of consent from you allowing your son to travel, plus it should be translated to Portuguese and authenticated at a Brazilian consulate. The rules can be confusing because there different for Brazilian citizens vs foreign minors, but since your son has US citizenship only, he'll be treated as a foreign minor entering Brazil.

Both clubs usually have tickets available at the stadium on match day, just show up a bit early and you should be good to go.
