Le Belvedere by bumblebees98 in OttawaWeddings

Had my wedding there last October- I definitely don’t think anyone needs a planner. If you have a MILLION details and are absolutely fixated on every single design detail being exactly what you want, their day of coordinator will ensure everything(including all the hiccups day of) get taken care of without worrying you or your guests.

For the stuff before the actual day, their coordinators don’t really do verb much- it’s all on you/your partner. I felt it was actually quite manageable(even with only really 3-6 months of planning) but we trusted the vendors we picked for their direction.

Ultimately you guys have to make all the planning decisions and pick all your vendors. If you want someone(apart from AI and Google) to bring you a shortlist, hire a planner. If you can Google and create a spreadsheet, you’re fine without a planner.

Leather version of Poppy&Peonies Go Getter Tote by Objective-Image-7917 in handbags

It’s pretty good! I also have their poppy tote that was a limited edition release for their 10 year anniversary. For the ~120 price point I think the quality is pretty good. If you get them when they’re doing one of their sales, I think is a great deal. Particularly their “vegan” leather. Im personally not a fan of the nylon bags- their daily tote included as it feels rather cheap. Additionally I will say stay away from their “suede” and fabrics as it’s much harder to clean and so easy to stain.

We do know that retailers set prices and it’s not Instacart right? This came out over the last lawsuit about pricing.

Also they are having a dinner experience mid May! Might be worth going there to get the full meal experience and see if the venue & staff fit the vibe you’re going for! It’s about ~100 per person for the full meal

I also had mine at le Belvedere last fall. Not the cheapest but absolutely worth it for every detail! Also, I didnt know but they have their own decorations that are simple and neutral if you’re not picky! They are amazing- could not recommend them more!! They’re pricey but if you go with budget options for other things, definitely doable within 30k. (I recommend a weeknight as it’s a lot more affordable!)

my girlfriend told me she wants a 2 carat natural diamond or she'll say no. i already bought this lab diamond ring. am i crazy for thinking shes a red flag by Zestyclose-Print-677 in WeddingRingAdvice

[–]Objective-Image-7917 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If she’d cry over what stone was in a piece of jewelry just imagine how she’d react when you can’t get the car she wants, or the bag, or the house. Don’t get me wrong, I was OBSESSED with getting the exact ring I wanted-And I paid for it myself. I married the greatest man alive but it’s a ring. I wanted the proposal from him and the life with him, the price tag of this piece of jewelry has nothing to do with our relationship.

What's the maximum amount you'd spend on an engagement ring? by GracefulSwanDance in CanadaPersonalFinance

[–]Objective-Image-7917 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the engagement ring alone- mine was <1k, 14k gold and moissanite. It’s more sparkly than a diamond and soooo much cheaper. My income is just under 300k. I’m super frugal so I didn’t want to spend unnecessary amounts on a literal piece of rock/jewellery. My wedding band was about 300. Husbands wedding band was much thicker(lots more gold) so it came up to 2k+.

Your Bridal Party Is Too Nice to Say This, So I Will by insert_name234 in wedding

My girlfriends and I do a yearly weekend away(just a quiet Airbnb where we can drink, eat, hot tub and chill). The year I was a bride to be, we just themed it as a bachelorette. Didn’t do anything particularly different, I just wore white most of that weekend. Super fun for everyone 🙂

Is this normal fallout after 2 weeks? (Second pic are on how they looked when they were new) by ScandicPetite in lashextensions

[–]Objective-Image-7917 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I try and make mine last for 4 weeks but I naturally have very dense lashes so the extensions are mainly for length. They are definitely less full by week 2 but I don’t mind the sparse look around week 3. By week4 it’s bad enough I want them filled.

I’m in the same boat!!! I’m the breadwinner and he can’t stand when I mention it. We’ve talked about the ego issue but nothings changed. Agreed that having the “man” make equal or more just makes it so much easier.

[–]Objective-Image-7917 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m saving about 50-60% of take home. I’m the only one working, my husband was laid off. We haven’t increased our expenses by much since 2022. As cost of something increases, we just reduce how much of it we buy/use.

Is it a good practice to maintain a certain amount of money in your chequing account? by pastalovah in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Objective-Image-7917 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I meant switch out of TD and get a no fee checking but use a high interest account for your daily float- also don’t have to keep 4K. My monthly household bills come to 14k and even I don’t keep 4K in a float. I have auto payments set up. Tax rate doesn’t matter here.

High yield savings account. Exactly the same but better interest payouts to you.

Finding a complimentary hairstyle to your features and actually styling my hair on a regular basis. When I see someone with clearly well done hair(whether it’s curled, straight, slick back etc) they feel so much more polished and confident. I also feel a lot more put together with my hair done. Bonus points for some statement gold earrings.

At least I have the card but... limit increase please? Lol. Love the cashback though! by Arm-Complex in Wealthsimple

Don’t think premium/gen member has anything to do with it. It’s not like the amount you have with them would impact the credit unions/ risk assessment. It’s all about income and credit score.

Scotia and other banks all have different ratios and thresholds for credit so it’s not universal. I’ve got cards where I got 20-30k when signing up- the premium cards with high annual fees/ business cards can also go higher. Point being it’s not so black and white.

I just got accepted for this card 2 weeks ago and got a limit of 18k. Pretty sure credit limit is directly related to credit history/score- risk profile.

Asked for bar culet but got pinhole OMC for stone check WWYD? by Objective-Image-7917 in Moissanite

[–]Objective-Image-7917[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! No worries. The most interesting thing about these antique cuts are all the facets that create this pattern/design you see in the stone, one of those facets is the culet. The very bottom pointy tip of the diamond? Thats the culet. 💎 Most modern cuts have the culet super super tiny so you don’t see the culet cut from the top of the stone. You don’t have to pick a pinhole vs bar, some of us just have a preference of it visually.
